The CC-222SLmkII from Tascam is a rack mountable CD and cassette player/recorder designed for professional applications. The cassette deck features auto-reverse, ±10% pitch control, and Dolby B noise reduction. The slot-loading CD recorder accepts high-speed recording media, and offers playback of MP3 CDs. It also offers pitch control, as well as key control.
The unit features both analog and digital I/O, with RCA connectors for analog and both coaxial and optical connectors for digital transmission. There is also an RIAA phono input for connecting a record player. Built-in 24-bit AD/DA converters provide pro-quality sound.
You can choose to record to either the tape deck or the CD recorder. You can dub from CD to cassette and vice-versa. You can operate the system as 2 separate recorders, or record a single source to both mediums consecutively for terrific flexibility.
Other useful features of the system include a front-panel headphone jack with volume control, auto track increment, power on play, fade in and out, and multiple playback modes. All of these versatile features make the CC-222SLmkII an ideal choice for use in theaters, schools, houses of worship, and other venues.
Note! Pitch and Key control are for CD-DA discs only.

Comments about Tascam CC-222SLmkII Rack Mount CD/Cassette Recorder:
I am using the recorder to dub casette tapes onto CDs. I find the unit very simple use and it makes a very good reproduction on the CD. It automatacally adds stops during silent periods on the tapes (sometime it adds a few extras but that's not a problem during playback) I've only been using the unit for a few weeks so I am not very skilled in all it's other features but if you want to dub tapes to CD then this is a good choice

Comments about Tascam CC-222SLmkII Rack Mount CD/Cassette Recorder:
Works awesomely! I bought this Tascam to transfer old analog cassettes of live concerts to a digital format to share online and it works like a charm. Great quality heads in the deck, a decent A/D converter, and the ease of use, make it a breeze to go from analog to digital. The only addition I would like to see is being able to adjust the left and right input channels independently on the cdr burner.

Comments about Tascam CC-222SLmkII Rack Mount CD/Cassette Recorder:
Using it to transfer old recordings from high quality cassette tapes to CD.
Slightly annoying that on "autodub" where full tape is automatically copied to disc - when a CD-R is used - one cannot selectively go back and delete tracks in the middle of the recording -- should be able to work around this by using a CD RW as an intermediate step.
Am very pleased with the sound quality and the noise reduction (if that's what works the magic).
Hopefully reliability will be good - time will tell.

Comments about Tascam CC-222SLmkII Rack Mount CD/Cassette Recorder:
I use this as part of my home stereo, and am an amateur musician with an in-home recording studio. The TASCAM works great. Only complaint is that the cassette mechanism is a little noisy, and there is no light to illuminate the cassette (helps to see how much tape remaining, etc). Compares well to my 1980s TEAC Z-6000 cassette (a real monster). Lots of features so takes a little practice to master its use. Great remote.

We bought this to use in our church sanctuary. We have several people who rotate doing sound, so easy operation is a must. We have not used it as a recorder yet, but I can't imagine it will be hard. IT is a perfect fit for our needs.

I have this deck intalled in my recording truck. It makes dubbing SUPER EASY. Literally, one button to dub CDs from cassettes. Works smoothly. Sounds great. Auto-indexing. The ONLY thing I would change is the connectors. The analog inputs/outputs are RCA. XLRs would have been even better for me. I hope they keep this model around, so when it comes time to replace, I can buy this unit again.

I've bought audio recording and reproduction equipment for over 20 years for my work. Tascam has always made excellent products: quality recording, ease of use, reliability. B&H had the price that beat everybody and I know they have outstanding customer service. I highly recommend both.

Comments about Tascam CC-222SLmkII Rack Mount CD/Cassette Recorder:
This piece of equipment can do so much more than I need, but it's a member of the Teac family which has always meant great quality. I'd actually give it 4.5 stars if there were a way to do that. The only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is because there is so much to it, that I'll be spending quite a bit of time with the instructions before I can fully benefit from all that it can do...that's mostly because I have not kept pace with sound equipment.

This is a great piece of equipment for a professinal audio technician. It is difficult to understand how it works if you are not trained in the field. Once it is figured out, it works great.

Comments about Tascam CC-222SLmkII Rack Mount CD/Cassette Recorder:
Normally I do not rate products - but this one really stood out. When I play the old tapes as tapes it sounds very noisy - but the converted CDs sound great. Whatever noise reduction applied - seems very good quality & no noticeable loss of sound quality for most cassettes. Good product. I am playing back using an Oppo BDP-95, Onkyo TX-NR809, Polk Audio LSi 7.2 system (2 LSi15, 4 LSi7, LSiC, 2 DSW micro 3000 subs) & Emotiva UPA-2 amp for the LSi15 speakers. Mostly playing back stereo but full surround plays back good as well. I have not tried the CD playback using the reviewed Tascam product.
I have listed best uses for amateur recording & not professional recording because I have only used for amateur recording - may very well be good for pro recording.

Comments about Tascam CC-222SLmkII Rack Mount CD/Cassette Recorder:
CC-222SLmkII does just what we needed it to do. Unit was purchased for use in church music program. The ability to play accompaniment on cd and record choir performance to that accompaniment on tape simultaneously is amazing.
Choir can now hear themselves by playing back the tape.
Also, dubbing tape to cd for better control is a major plus.
Key change/pitch change did not result in useable sound. Only bad feature found so far.

Comments about Tascam CC-222SLmkII Rack Mount CD/Cassette Recorder:
We use the Tascam 222 in our church to record the services to CDs. Up until last week we had been using the last version with a pop-out tray and it worked well for five years. Then the CD recorder started giving "recording error" messages and kicked out the CD. Instead of getting it repaired, we opted for the newer familiar machine so our techs wouldn't have to learn something new. We are happy with it.
