I bought this item for use with a Sennheiser ME-66 short Mic, and a Sony PCM-D50, so I am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, however I am into field recording and I do care about the quality of sound I can get within the constraints of my small budget. For me this has been a process of elimination, buying gear and realizing that its not going to make the grade and selling it or exchanging it along the way. This cable was one of those purchases as I needed a simple cable to go from the Mic to the recorder or an XLR to mini-jack, and and BH search came up with a few products and this was for about twenty bucks. It does exactly what I was looking for, and more then I was expecting as I had initially purchased it with an eye to finding out more about what it was I needed to get a mono mic to relay through both headphone channels for monitoring purposes, anyway this thing does that, and it cost me a whopping break-the-bank [...]

I bought this cable along with a new AT897 shotgun mic and for two weekends of filming I could not use my new mic. Tried everything, finally discovered it was this cable. It has a loose metal spring on the front to release tension on the cable, this spring was shorting out the cable and making contact with the leads on the cable. Cost me two shooting days without my new mic. Extremely unhappy.

Sometimes you have to cross the chasm. Meaning you have to use professional audio equipment with, for example, a PC.
This device lets you do it. It works very well.

it's very well made and looks like its gonna last for long. I like the audio signal that comes through this tiny thing. would buy this again instead of the cheap ones out there. Hope this helps. Oh and very important is that the 3.5mm connector is small enough to fit any DSLR, which is my case.

I came across this product in time. Just what I needed. The sound quality is good. I would sat it's for interviews and live situations where you need good sound. I would not use this for professional recordings.

It came with AT897 shotgun mic, i already owned an external recorder, h4n zoom, so it was great since i could connect my mic with the recorder using the LMT100 and start shooting with my dslr.

Critical piece of equipment to integrate our new Headset with our video camera so that our Commentators have proper audio when calling our hockey games live on the internet.

I used this with a RODE NTG-2 and Canon t3-i. Works great but you still deal with problems of the AGC. But if you want to use an xlr mic with a DSLR this is great.

I use this for plugging in a mic into my 60D for shooting video and I couldn't be happier. We use the zoom H4n to record most audio, but when in a hurry or on a tight schedule plugging audio directly into a DSLR can be a great option. Better than I expected, as I heard there is usually a terrible hiss and have found that the audio sounds clean. Very Happy.

This is a simple and effective way to connect a XLR to a 1/8 socket. I use it to link my NTG-2 Shotgun microphone to my Canon 7d. It does exactly what it's supposed to.

I must say that this cable didn't stick out as great quality or anything.
Personally, I must say that it is a bit to short for me...but you obviously know that since it is stated right in the description (1 1/2 feet).
The cable quality is just enough to make it work, none the less when I turn the gain up on my microphone the distortion is more evident. (I used the Rode NTG-2).
If you are looking for a temporary solution, or you are not a professional, than I would recommend this cable.

This adapter is exactly what I needed to be able to use my XLR-pinned microphones with my Panasonic MiniDV camera as well as my Canon 7D. I even used a 30 foot extension cable between the mic and the camera and notice no degradation of the sound quality. Inexpensive for what it does. I'm going to buy another to keep as a spare.

I bought this, and it wasn't compatible with my Azden sgm 1x. It produced tons of static, even when the mic device was off. Didn't work in my laptop, or my 60d.
