The MFC-490CW Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer is a compact all-in-one unit that is designed for the budget and space conscious consumer, and is equipped with Ethernet networking for your home or home office. It includes a 3.3" widescreen color flip-up LCD display and a 4x6 photo bypass tray for simple photo printing and editing without the need to connect to a computer. And ensure that your photos look great with rich, vibrant borderless printing and a droplet size as small as 1.5 picoliters and the exclusive True2Life image optimization technology. The MFC-490CW is also very fast with print speeds as fast as 33ppm in black and 27ppm in color. Furthermore, It includes stand-alone fax, and copy capability with an automatic document feeder that holds up to 15 pages.

Bought this printer in May primarily for its wireless capability. Wireless setup with my laptop computer was a breeze. Also, the USB connection setup to my desktop computer was quick and painless.

Bought this printer in May primarily for its wireless capability. Wireless setup with my laptop computer was a breeze. Also, the USB connection setup to my desktop computer was quick and painless.
Replacement cartridges are also MUCH cheaper than for my old, retired HP printer.
Only complaint is that the scanner lid doesn't seem to be constructed very well. My wife wanted to scan some old typewritten recipes and when she lifted the top, it broke loose from the top right corner mounting. This was the first time it was used, so I would have to say that the construction and/or attachment of the hinges is not very good.
Otherwise, I am very pleased with the printer. Good print speed and quality.

2) if you talk on the phone on the same line it freezes until you hang up. Pretty annoying.
Except for that it does the job.

This machine is awesome, I have been using it consistently since I bought it about a month ago and it has performed very well. I used the wireless feature, which omitted any need for cable hook ups and allowed for everyone in the house to use the same printer. B&H also had the best price for this all in one printer, fax, copier, and scanner. I have used all the features
I mentioned and it has responded well in each case.
I honestly cannot think of anything negative concerning this product, so if you are in the market, this is definitely a great choice.

Use it at home for everyday (light) printing needs. Prints nice quality photos and the scanner is working quite well to digitize old family photos. I would definitely recommend it. Only had it in use for about 1 month, but am pleased so far.

We needed a WiFi printer in one of our offices with 3 PCs & 2 Laptops - this printer fit right in - we've tried the HP unit but within a month it fell off the network - and HP TS states: "They can not guarantee their printers will work under all network conditions...." To date, at all of our locations we have NEVER had a network related (or other) problem with ANY Brother Printer!!!!

The primary reasons I chose this printer are 1. WIFI capability [...] I have not and will not use this printer for heavy use, but it seems to be a design that would efficiently handle it. Mostly have used it for scanning - this function works great, very good detail and easy to use. Very compact machine as well, would fit nicely in a closet or any other wireless location you want to hide it.

Having 3 laptops in the house, we wanted a true wireless solution and a printer that met all of our printing needs. We can copy, fax, scan,print our photos, and it meets our regular printing needs from anywhere in our 3,000 square foot, 3 level home.
We replaced a printer, so the difference was astounding. It prints so much faster than what we are used to.
It was a little difficult for us to set up at first. We had it set up on one laptop, tried to do another and had to reset the first laptop with help from a friend.
Overall, we really enjoy this printer and were pleasantly surprised.
