The Canon WFT-E4A Wireless File Transmitter allows you to wirelessly transfer your files from the EOS 5D Mark II to a secure network. In addition, it also serves as a vertical grip, duplicating basic camera controls for easier vertical shooting.
The WFT-E4A can transfer images wirelessly through either 802.11b or g protocols, and has a USB connection for situations where wireless access is limited, or impractical.
It is also equipped with a powerful antenna, capable of transmission up to 150 feet. The Wireless File Transmitter can connect to a third-party GPS device via the USB connection, providing the ability to attach GPS information directly into the image's EXIF data, or you can plug a compatible USB 2.0 hard drive into the transmitter's USB port, and actually shoot directly to a large portable hard drive.
The WFT-E4A is powered by the LP-E6 lithium-ion battery, which does not supply any power to the camera itself. It also allows you to check the remaining capacity on the camera's power source info screen.

Comments about Canon WFT-E4A Wireless File Transmitter & Vertical Grip:
We purchased the WFT-E2A for my 1DMII a while back and was never able to get it up and running consistantly. I recently "upgraded" to a 5DMII and purchased the WFT-E4A after one of my clients didn't want to wait for us to download the images during a shoot. Again, we had a VERY difficult time following the instructions from Canon on setting up the wireless transmitter. After almost giving up, I found on a blog of a fellow photographer on how to set up the device. Within minutes we were shooting and viewing nearly instantaneously. We have used this product for over 10 shoots and LOVE it. Highly recommended. To find the blog just google "WFT-E4A" and "set-up" - her link is 3-4 down from the top.

Comments about Canon WFT-E4A Wireless File Transmitter & Vertical Grip:
Getting it setup wasn't so bad. Of course, the manual is awful. But, there are some nice tutorials online. The one at [@] was especially helpful to me. Using this, I was setup and running "wireless tether" in Adobe Lightroom 2 in about an hour.So far I have tested the JPG and RAW transfer, from up to 75' or so feet away and both times the photo's showed up in Lightroom when I returned to the MacBook Pro, using an adhoc wifi network. JPG files take only a second or two to show up (when close to the computer). RAW files are just too big and slow for use on an actual shoot. If you require instant RAW file transfer for client previews, this product is not for you. If you are unable to commit to at least an hour of setup using simple instructions online and/or require Mac-like ease of use and "zero configuration" networking, this product is not for you.On the other hand, If [$] is nothing to you and you want "wireless tether" BUY IT NOW! You will be very happy you did. As am I, and all my friends who are now using this. There's nothing like being wireless. This product is really designed for advertising shoots, so the client can see a quick preview of the JPEG's on something along the lines of Apple's 30" Cinema Display. For this use, I'd say it is absolutely brilliant.

Unless you are a rocket scientist, this thing may not be for you...
Also It's really slow to transfer files (as it's based on regular Wi-fi technology... and the range is very limited with the way i finally set it up with Tech Service...
The only way I could even get this to work was to call Canon and have the Engineer walk me through the setup...
The amount of "errors" and times it lost the connection are leading me to return the product actually...
