I recieved the new LP-E6 batteries (2) just before I went on vacation with my new 5D-Mark II.
I was using the batteries in a BG-E6 Battery Grip.
I shot around 1200 pictures (simultaneous large JPG and RAW) mostly at the the rated ~4 frames per second before I recharged both batteries. And according to the 5D battery status check I still had about 300 shots left. The 5D Mark II batteries are about twice as much as the older BP-511A series I use in my 20D and 40D but they are worth the price.

I have to say, I'm liking these new lp-e6 batteries in the new crop of Canon bodies over the bp511, but the pricing on the batteries is well.... typical Canon. It's an overpriced product, though I succumbed to the pricing over 3rd party batteries due to reports of the battery getting stuck in cheaper versions. That being said, These new batteries are fantastic, hold one heckuva charge and I would recommend them. The product does lose 2 stars due to excessive cost (in my opinion).

I have' t had the chance to try the battery for
my new Canon 60D camera because it is only an
alternate one. My order actually came a day earlier
than was originally scheduled.B&H is the best site to
order. They are prompt and very reliable and their items
are genuine.

Comments about Canon LP-E6 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 1800mAh):
The camera came with one, but I needed a second one. The stock battery gave me no reasons to switch, even though there are cheaper alternatives. Would be a 5 star, if not for the price.

I purchased this battery as a much needed back up for IEM
battery that came with my camera a year and a half ago.
The original battery has performed great, and so far this
one is just as great. I shot a whole day with it recently, and it performed without hesitation.

There are third party brands for less, but they do have a lower ma/h capacity and if you paid the big bucks for the camera then spring for the Canon battery.

Comments about Canon LP-E6 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 1800mAh):
I have owned several "off brand" batteries for my 20D, 40D, 5D, and 5DMK2 because I like a bargain now and then just like everyone, however, none seem to last as long as the Canon battery. (Charge/discharge, not necessarily shooting time)I have gone through several other batteries but the original Canon batteries from all of the cameras (yes all of them) are still charging and holding a charge after several years. The other batteries are rated as higher output, (1500 or 1600 maH vs. 1450 for the Canon 20,40, and 5D, and 2600 maH vs 1800 for the Canon 5D MK2) but they don't seem to last. In addition, the newer Canon "smart" batteries have data that reports to the camera and the off brand ones don't. The camera will ask if you want to proceed knowing it will not reoport time left on charge. I only wish Canon would increase the capacity rating on their battery. So for longevity, get the Canon. For longer shoot times and shorter life expectancy, get the off brand which is considerably cheaper. Also note, the Canon charger will not work on the off brands, and vice versa.

I shoot wedding photography with a partner, and we use the same camera, same batteries, same everything pretty much! I had a Canon Rebel xTi before "graduating" to my 5D Mark II, and in the past had bought off brand batteries. I will NEVER buy off brand again, as they don't hold their life! I made it thru a 9 hour wedding gig, and didn't have to replace my battery at all...yes, I do have a backup! Highly recommend this!!
