Ikelite W-20 Underwater Wide Angle Conversion Lens w/ 46mm Thread
The Ikelite W-20 is a high quality wide-angle conversion lens that works on many housings with ports that have a 46mm thread. The lens has a magnification of 0.56x.
The use of a wide-angle lens allows you to get closer to your subject. This eliminates water between you and your subject, increasing contrast and improving color. The wide angle conversion lens can be attached and removed when underwater for maximum versatility.

I am a novice diver taking pictures underwater for the first time.
I used a nikon coolpix S550 with a housing and strobe by Ikelite.
This wide lens allowed me to get really close to the subject. That was very important since the environment was very dark and silty.
I love the fact it is heavy because it compensates for the positive buoyancy of the camera housing and strobe
