The Flip Video MinoHD Camcorder (Black) gives you simple to use HD 720p recording that fits in your pocket. About the size of a small cell phone the MinoHD can easily be controlled with one hand. There's no menu to worry about. All the functions you need to operate the camcorder are clearly marked and easy to understand. Capture up to 60 minutes of H.264 video to the built-in 4GB flash memory.
The MinoHD also features a 1.5" LCDscreen for composition and playback, a 3 second startup time, and a silent mode for discrete recording. Another useful feature, the "Child Safe" mode, ensures that those once-in-a-lifetime clips won't be accidently erased. In addition, even though the camera lens is fixed focus, there is the option of 2x digital zoom for when you need to get just a little bit closer.
When you're ready to edit and upload your footage simply flip out the USB arm and connect it to your computer. Use the built-in FlipShare software to email, edit, and post to sites such as YouTube. The video files also work with iTunes, iMovie, and iPhoto. The HD video can be viewed on your computer, when uploaded to a video sharing site that supports HD, or when burned to a high def DVD via a Blu-ray burner and played back in a Blu-ray burner.

Let's just say I have both the Kodak Zi6 and the Flip Mino HD. I couldn't decide which one to get, so I got them both. The Flip Mino however, is the one I have been carrying around and it is great. It fits in your pocket and you nearly forget you have it with you it's so small.Also, after really thinking about the issue of the battery not being accessible and the "memory" not being accessible like the Zi6.....SO WHAT! Every iPod out there is the same way and after Apple addressed the battery issue with the first gen iPods ....no one has really complained....at least not me.I mean the the way you have to look at it is, how much video are you taking with this thing anyway. It's not meant to capture an entire school play, recital or wedding. It's meant to capture spur of the moment memories that you would have otherwise missed, if you didn't have the camera with you. I am sure you would have another more substantial camcorder for those more important events.That said....The low light quality is better then the Zi6, it's more compact and easier to carry and easier to use. The software is really very good and will allow you to capture still pics if you need to. Also, the software runs on both Windows and a Mac....which is important I feel.Also, as proved by several professional reviewers, the picture quality is better then the Zi6 as well.Some of the cons are as follows: Only can shoot at 60 fps HD 720p (sorta 720p), Once the memory is full, it's full until you download the video to a computer, once the battery is dead, it is dead until you charge it. The native video right out of the camera, does not run on the new Netbooks that are really popular today....I know I tried a few. The HD video just "chokes" those small CPU's. Screen on the back of the camera could be bigger and a lot of people suggested a Mic input would be nice as well.Bottom-line: Buy the camera....trust me, I did a TON of research to the point where I was going crazy....this camera I am glad I bought. I am giving the Zi6 to my brother. Also, buy the camera from B&H these guys REALLY know their stuff and always have an excellent price. I own the original Flip Video and really like it. I purchased the HD version and I am not impressed and I am returning it for the following reasons, based on a side by side video comparison of the old camera and the new HD:
The audio on the HD is slightly weaker, not as loud.
The HD video is darker than the original and therefore requires more light to record.
There is more noticeable jitter with the HD - makes sense since the resolution is higher.
** The picture quality isn't really better at all.
I was primarily interested in better picture quality either played back on my PC or my TV. I understood TV playback wouldn't be that much better since you can only connect via composite video and not HDMI, but I did expect a improvement with PC playback. There wasn't really any, definitely not worth the larger file size as a result of the greater resolution. I'm sticking with my old flip.

Small design is handy. Perfect for children. Bought for my 9 year old and he loves it. Only 1 hour record time is a bit low, but didnt want to pay more for 2 hours. Video storage on MAC is a bit confusing, may just be me though.

I use the MinoHD to make videos for a business I run out of my home. I've been using it now for over a year. I bought this one as a gift for my sister for christmas. She used mine three or four times over the past year to record videos of her music/band performances to promote herself over the internet and make videos to show producers.
For a pocket size HD camera, in my opinion, you can't beat the price or video quality. And when you add in the mini tripod, you have a virtual studio wherever you go (minus the green screen).
I'd recommend this purchase to anyone!

My first try using the Flip was for my daughter's ballroom dancing. The video was clear and the sound was excellent. I used a table top tripod to keep the picture steady. The only problem I had was being too close sometimes. On a similar note, the zoom capability is limited.
All in all, a great little video camera.

I have the non HD Flip camera which is excellent, but I really wanted the HD version. I was able to get this with a [$], so it was a no brainer. The camera is super easy to use, takes fantastic video ( granted it's not as good as a high end DV camcorder) but it's darn good. The sound quality is hit or miss, in that the MIC is small and on camera, but again it's about what I expected and more than acceptable for my use. The LCD screen on the back is smaller than I expected so viewing your videos is hard on camera. The build quality of the unit is good, the buttons are very easy to use and push. The the flip software makes it super easy to download, view, edit and share your videos. If you're on the fence about a small easy to use (low-end) camcorder, this is a no brainer - get it!

The MinoHD is a cute, convenient and ingenious device. Small and travel friendly. It's nice... but given what it is there are a few simple but key ingredients that would really improve this product. The zoom for one could use an adrenalin boost, it's pretty insignificant. Also why titillate me with HD, and put no HD out connection on this device - huh?. It only has a standard AV out. But I gave it to my niece and honestly to a teenager with a purse, its the coolest device.
So overall for what it is as a plug an play, it's a pretty cool little device.

The Flip is a great device. Its' simple design and good software make it the best option for quick and easy video capture. My family also recieved a Kodak video recorder as well, which has great features but is much more difficult to use. The Flip is the perfect device to pull out of your pocket, record video, connect to your computer and save it. It is a great device.
