Setting it up on a home network is a snap - the software guides you through the entire process.
Pretty noisy when actually printing, but inaudible otherwise (therefore the seemingly conflicting pros & cons). This should not be an issue for the average home user, but if you're constantly printing, you'll probably want to locate it out of earshot.
The quality of the output is excellent.
TIP: A common misconception is that increasing printer memory will increase the output speed. It won't. Adding memory will only enable the printer to handle larger jobs. So unless you tend to print a lot of large graphic files, the default memory is more than adequate.

Printer is used in a small business setup. Printer connected to PC with Windows XP and shared with other 4 PCs. A liitle noisier than HP1350 it replaced. The problem is - driver installation and performance. We have XP 32bit and Vista 64-bit PC mix. Under Vista adding network printer will require manual installation of the driver from the folder. It is very slow with HP universal driver (latest version from HP). Also will print 1-2 lines of text on a page which looks like a message from the HP driver itself, wasting paper. Reinstalled as HP laserjet 4 printer, and all problems are gone. It may affect picture quality and no duplex printing but at least it is usable. HP must fix the drivers, otherwise I can not recommend this printer for workplaces with mixed Windows OS.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard LaserJet P2055dn B/W Laser Printer:
This printer was easy to set up in a networked environment, provides reasonably fast printing, and once I found the control panel option, quiet printing.
Getting it Shipped to Canadas was fast and easy and saved about 30%.

I have installed about 6 of these in a large office. So far they have been trouble free despite getting heavy use. Network set up is straight forward.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard LaserJet P2055dn B/W Laser Printer:
This printer (a) sounds like it is grinding metal on metal every time it prints (only, there is so little metal in it that this is impossible), and (b) thinks it is jammed all the time, hence the review headline.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard LaserJet P2055dn B/W Laser Printer:
Bought P2055dn printer to replace a HP 2200d that finally broke.
Never thought something could be faster than my old 2200d, but this printer is faster & quieter than my old laser.
Per item description, this printer has a duplexer (save paper) and is network capable (ethernet cord), so I can print from multiple computers (or my Droid Bionic with MotoPrint).
No issues yet, but page count is still under 500 pages as I've only had printer a couple weeks.
This printer will have a lower cost-per-page than most ink jets.

This printer is being used to print scripts and other technical papers. We have had no problems with this LaserJet. It was extremely easy to set-up and start to use. We have networked this printer and it is performing flawlessly. It is compact and has a fairly small footprint. I would highly recommend this laser printer.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard LaserJet P2055dn B/W Laser Printer:
Printer is fast, no noisier than any of my other lasers by any manufacturer (that means noisy), compact, prints crisp output and, unlike almost every criticism I read before purchasing, was very easy to set up. Did have to update the printer's firmware to prepare it for use on my iMac, but that was two clicks of my mouse.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard LaserJet P2055dn B/W Laser Printer:
This printer really works well. I use it to print things I want to read from the internet since I don't want to always read from the computer screen. Also it is less expensive to print than an ink jet which I have and use for color. They have large laser ink cart-ages which make it less expensive. My old HP laser never missed a beat for 10 Years and the cartage would print several reams and lasted over a year or two. There are web sites which give you a cost per page. So check them out and you wont have to be unhappy about cartage cost. Also HP rates their printers by pages printed per day. So if you print 1000 pages per day get a machine for 5000 and you should never have a problem.

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard LaserJet P2055dn B/W Laser Printer:
I bought this printer to replace my HP LaserJet 1200, which had run nonstop for 10 years. The P2055dn is the exact same physical size as the 1200 and has some upgraded features, like an on-off button at the front and a more user-friendly paper tray. Out of the box, the printer was up and running in a few minutes. I'm a writer and editor who works from a home office, and I generate large volume printouts of manuscripts. The P2055dn prints fast and reliably. It is not particularly quiet. You can get a high-volume toner cartridge for this model that brings down the cost per page. This is one of Consumer Reports' highest rated printers. It also has a straight-through printer path that accommodates specialty papers (i.e., heavier weight papers).

Comments about HP / Hewlett Packard LaserJet P2055dn B/W Laser Printer:
I bought the printer to replace a 17-year-old HP LaserJet 4L. The print speed, of course, is a big improvement. I use the printer over a network, and usually by the time I walk from the living room to the next room, the printing is already done if it is just a few pages. I have printed a few hundred pages with the printer, including auto duplex printing without any hint of a paper jam. For the best print quality, you need to select the ProRes quality setting instead of FastRes printing. (The ProRes produces noticeably darker print.) The picture quality is fine for a laser printer, but not great.
I did have one problem during installation. When I first ran the driver installation, I chose the USB driver in case I wanted to print any large print jobs directly from my laptop. When I ran the installation CD a second time to install the network driver, it apparently detected the previous installation and would not give me the option to install the printer over the network. Instead I had to manually install the printer and assign the network port myself. (If you are a novice, this could be difficult. You need to use your router to find the IP address, then use Add Printer and create a port manually using the IP address.) There weren't any surprises with the manual installation, but it was a nuisance to do it myself. The web interface was nice because I could change the printer IP address without needing to power down or reset the printer.
I have used the printer for envelopes using the manual feeder and straight-through path without any problems. The manual feeder also holds multiple sheets instead of just single sheets like my old HP. I don't try to use the auto detect for media; if I am feeding from the manual tray, I set the paper source in the printer driver so I force it pull from the manual tray. (In which case the printer will prompt you to hit OK to continue.)
So far the printer does everything I need without any problems. I keep the printer in another room and access it over my network, so I don't notice the noise when it is printing. It certainly isn't silent on the default setting, but I haven't tried the quiet mode.
