Product integrates well into the 3-n-1 bag. Tripod is easy to insert/retrieve and I am taking my pod more as a result. Also, by putting more weight away from my body the weight has re-distributed from the top of the shoulder to the front which is better. I have a Manfrotto 190xProB on a 3-n-1 20 and the tripod is several inches taller making the bag a bit awkward to sling at times, and when I'm walking around with tripod attached to the bag, the lower camera compartment can become a little crammed and the tripod does swing a small amount, but nothing serious for either issue. Otherwise a very practical product.

Got this for my Kata 3n1-22 bag.
While it holds my old cheapie aluminum medium tripod (23" folded length, approx. 3 lbs) just fine, anything longer and heavier like my Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 with 498RC2 head (30" folded length, approx. 5 lbs) is too much. The bulk of the weight is up top extending about 13" above the top of the bag so it wants to swing back and forth when you're walking. It also tends to pull the top of the bag away from your back in backpack mode due to the weight distribution being mostly up top with a large tripod.
Forget about using this with the Kata bag in sling mode with a big tripod. It definitely works better for small/medium and light tripods only.
The metal ring where the vertical strap attaches to also rubs against the tripod body so I suggest wrapping it in something soft to avoid scratching up the tripod.
For the price of the Kata bags, this should have also been included with the bag.
Overall though as a solution to carry your gear and tripod, it's not bad ... just have to be aware of its limitations.

Comments about Kata STH-3N1 Tripod Holder System:
I love the tripod holder.
But, why? Why didn't it just come with the bag? Save the raincoat and give me the tripod holder.
But, now that I have it, I'm happy with it. It solves a problem on where to store it when I am not using it. It doesn't flop around while walking and stays in place when the sling is slung.
Simple but innovate design.

Comments about Kata STH-3N1 Tripod Holder System:
I purchased this tripod holder to use with my Manfrotto 680B monopod. The secure fit to my Kata bag is excellent and makes carrying my monopod a breeze. It's held in place as it should be and with the snap of a buckel the monopod is off the bag and ready to use. This holder is inexpensive and well worth the purchase.

Comments about Kata STH-3N1 Tripod Holder System:
I'm thinking I may return this, but haven't decided. It's a great idea, and it probably works well with a small tripod, or a travel tripod. I have a good sized Gitzo, and it's just to large to use with this. But the design seems good, and it's well made.

Comments about Kata STH-3N1 Tripod Holder System:
I have a new carbon fibre tripod and thought this would be ideal for attaching to my Kata 3N1 22 bag. This holder is a dissappointment all around. The base pouch is barely large enough to hold either end of my folded up tripod. (takes some fidgeting to get it in) I'm surprised that there is no accomodation for drainage in the pouch, so if you get caught in the rain, it makes a great water collector. The side straps are configured in a manner that leaves the loose ends sticking out with nowhere to fold them in. The clips that hold the straps seem flimsy and likely to pop open when one of those loose ends gets snagged on something. Once installed with tripod attached, it leaves the tripod hanging way too far back, with no means of snugging it closer and making the pack feel way heavier and uncomfortable, not to mention needing much more clearence when moving in tight spaces. I think one could do much better with a couple peices of nylon webbing, some interlocking clips and velcro.

Comments about Kata STH-3N1 Tripod Holder System:
My tripod came with a very high quality padded carrying case, [in black with red trim, exactly matching the Kata 3N1-22 bag]. I was able to use it with this holder by trimming the edge of the velcro to extend the buckle on the upper cinch strap all the way out, and squeezing the empty bottom 3 inches of the case into the holder. It was only by having a case 3 or 4 inches longer than the tripod plus ballhead, that made this possible. Otherwise, the lower part of the holder is too tight of a fit to hold anything other than the bare tripod legs.

When I go out to different areas carrying the gear it is very helpful to have both of your hands free for other activities.

Comments about Kata STH-3N1 Tripod Holder System:
The tripod holder does what it says it will. My only problem is that not all three legs fit in the holder. Still stays in the hold and still gets held on by the upper strap. I fit two legs in and strap the top and it's good to go. Takes getting used to the camera being on the front of the bag. But it works well.

It does what it does. Holds my Oben AC-1300 just fine. With the tripod in the centre of the backpack it keeps the bag well balanced.

Comments about Kata STH-3N1 Tripod Holder System:
This is a great accessory if you regularly carry a tripod. The 4 star rating is because I felt it should be included with every 3N1 bag standard. It is simple to attach and holds very securely. I don't understand some of the complaints that it doesn't. You have to be smarter than the Velcro strap. There's a loop of Velcro that should wrap around the vertical handle of the 3N1 bag. It will stay right there in place and the quick buckle then goes around the tripod legs or neck, whichever is in the area.

Got this for use with my 3n1 20 bag.
Works well for carrying a small (~5ft tall when extended) tripod.
Clips that hold the straps connecting the pouch to the bag don't lock in super tight, and are a bit of a pain to remove and reattach if you want to use the holder occasionally.
I'm not sure if you could use the rain cover with a tripod attached to the bag unless your tripod is really small.
A bit pricey for what it is; if you had a few straps you could put something together for a lot cheaper.

Easy to attach to the Kata Sling bag. Hold my field tripod in a soft case. Keeps the tripod handy and still keeps it out of the way and secure for long walks over rough terrain or on city streets

Comments about Kata STH-3N1 Tripod Holder System:
Poor design. Looks ugly. Cumbersome to attach/detach to the Kata bag. But this is the only way you can carry a tripod with a Kata bag. The velcro piece that attach to the handle isn't big enough for some larger tripods.

Comments about Kata STH-3N1 Tripod Holder System:
I was a little hesitant about buying this for that Kata bag I bought but took the plunge anyway,. The reason I was hesitant was I have a Manfrotto 055XProB with a 324RC2 which is not a lightweight tripod and head. I was also afraid it would be too long. Once I got it attached to the bag and put the tripod on it seems to work out fine. I have not taken in out on a hike yet but I did load everything up on my backpack and moved around, even swung the bag off my shoulder and everything stayed in place. I'm not sure why others seem to have so much trouble. I'm happy so far.

The perfect addition to my Kata backpack. It not only carries my tripod, my monopod fits with it. I have 2 camera bodies, 4 lenses, a flash, 8 filters, 1 laptop, battery chargers, booklets, lots of other accessories and the tripod and monopod, when fully packed, with space for at least another 2 lenses. It's all tidy, organized and finished off with tripod holder.
