Fantastic for shooting at gymnastic competitions!I have been taking photos for 6 years at various venues and never had I had set an easier time setting up the white balance! I reset the WB at each event- just pointed the camera at the event area with the BaLens cap on and took the shot. Each event came out with perfect color. No post production work at all on color. This last meet was terrible lighting too- I was truly afraid it was not going to work, but the shots are in perfect color! I was so surprised at the quality WB this tool provided! Highly recommend!

I'm mostly a wedding videographer. I used the cap on couple of events, can estimated white balance more accurately just using my eyes. The white/blue interchangable cap broke out of the main cap in a few uses. Not cool.

It worked very well for me, but tossing it around in my camera bag the cap eventually broke. The white cap in the middle can be taken out and the ring that holds it in place is made rather cheaply.

This item is a great dual purpose item. It functions as a lens cap and white balance filter at half the cost of other filters. Fewer items to carry is always a good thing in photography.

I usually just leave the WB on auto until I realized that pretty much anything auto is not top notch. The difference in the whites are very noticeable, very cool very handy and easy to use product

Simple to use and gives great results! I suggest that the reviewers who had issues with this product were not obtaining the proper exposure necessary for a white balance reading...just correct the exposure and reading will work properly. Having a white balance tool built into this high quality lens cap means no more fumbling around or having an excuse not to use custom white balance. I am also using this with my smaller filter sized lenses by holding it in front while taking a white balance reading. Also love the fact that a warming filter is included.

I bought this based on reviews from other sites. I don;t worry too much about WB but thought this could quickly help lighten my RAW workflow. The main thing that I liked was unlike the expodisc and other WB systems was that you could get a reading from where you're standing and not have to walk to the subject and point the disc at the light source. This is a little deceptive however when you read the small print "for best results" and they're the same as the expodisc. So, not really much more convenient especially at a wedding. I guess the only bonus over the other systems is that it doubles as a lens cap.

I am not sure about this. I have used it in natural light settings and so far, the settings I use in my camera seems to adjust the white balance better than this does. My camera also gives me a warning each time I use it that states that it might not work. WT???

I use a Nikon D300 I have taken several shots using auto white balance or incandesent white balance, then I took the same shots using the Balens cap and setting custom white balance. I tried both domes that come with the cap. In almost every case the D300 auto WB or seelcting the appropriate WB on the camera yielded better color that the BAlnes cap + custom WB. I would not recommend this product as a buy. If you are in a situation with many different colors of light source it may help but I doubt it would be as accurate as shooting RAW and post processing

The ease of use is what sold me on this lens cap. No need to have someone hold a gray card.

The standard filter provides very cool results, I've found. As I mostly shoot weddings (i.e. people), I find the standard filter unsuitable. However, the warmer filter, also provided, is great. Definitely an easy way to get better colours - but if you're like me, you'll likely still fine-tune everything in your post-production work flow any way.

I have always had a problem with the white balance in my photos and took a chance that this would help...all I can say is that they should be included with the dslr purchase. I now get the white balance correct every time. This is a must have for every camera bag.

It's so simple to use and results are great! Used it in a dimly lit Gym with florescent lighting that with Auto WB registers an awful yellow cast. This completely corrected that... no post processing. Used yesterday on an overcast day and again great pictures. I love it!
