The Giottos MTL9371B Professional Aluminum Tripod Legs, part of Giottos' professional-level MT series, has a unique center column design and is versatile and easy to use. With 31mm diameter upper segments and smallest segments of a respectable 25mm, this 3-section tripod is appropriate for all but the most extreme of telephoto lens applications-pretty much anything smaller than a 400mm f/2.8 or 600mm f/4 can be used with confidence on the MTL9371B.
The MTL's unique swiveling center column mounting design allows it to be used as a lateral arm with angle adjustments, an especially useful combination for nature and macro photography. The column can also be used upside down and reversed. It allows for 360° horizontal and 180° vertical adjustment, without a tripod head needed, and the column can be positioned and set quickly by using the locking knobs.
The top of the center column separates from the main column, and by slipping this short camera platform into the swiveling center column mount you'll effectively have a universal 3-way head for very low ground-level shooting.

Comments about Giottos MTL Series 9371B Aluminum Tripod Legs:
Looked at this for a while. Wanted the flip-lock legs rather than the twist lock. The tripod is easy to set up, sturdy, reasonably priced, and easily supports my gripped 5DII and 1DIII. The center column and wide stance of the legs can get you right down to ground level for macro work. I use the 3300-658 ball head. The down side is this combination is heavy. Come on Giottos - a bag for the twist lock version but not the lever lock?

Comments about Giottos MTL Series 9371B Aluminum Tripod Legs:
I did a few weeks of research before purchasing this tripod. I was looking for something with good height and that could also get way low to the ground. It meets both of those requirements. It is pretty stable and does not feel as heavy as some others have noted. However, it certainly is a bit heavy to take trekking.

Comments about Giottos MTL Series 9371B Aluminum Tripod Legs:
Tilting center column has come in very handy. Didn't know how much I missed it till I had it. Love the Flip Lock legs. So much easier than the twist models. Worth the premium price over the twist leg model.
I'm only giving it 4 stars because it doesn't have spiked feet and unlike its twist leg sister it doesn't come with a short column or a bag.
