The 3TB VR External Hard Drive Array from CalDigit delivers a fail-safe storage solution. As configured, the array offers an impressive 3TB of storage spread across 2 hard drives, both of which are hot swappable. It features eSATA, FireWire-800, FireWire-400, and USB 2.0 connectivity.
The array can be configured in several configurations, including RAID 0 for maximum performance, RAID 1 for data mirroring, or as JBOD allowing you to access each hard drive as a separate volume. The drive can handle multiple streams of video when configured as RAID 0. These features and more make the array a great solution for your large data storage needs.

Comments about CalDigit 3TB VR External Hard Drive Array:
My old Accomdata external 300GB was bogging, so it was time for a new drive. I've read a lot of glowing reviews about CalDigit and their customer service and support from video editors and wanted an array that I could configure as Raid 1 for backup protection.
This drive's setup couldn't be simpler. With the Software Interface that comes with it, it only takes about 15 minutes to set it up the way you want to.
The LCD screen is a nice feature and this baby is quiet. If one of the drives in this baby goes down, it's already mirrored on the second drive till I get the replacement.

Comments about CalDigit 3TB VR External Hard Drive Array:
We use the VR for storing overland expedition footage in the field and a few recent projects for cable television. Overall, a great product, well designed and fast. An elegant, robust design, which is what we most appreciate for use in the jungles, etc.
However, when we went to install the SATA card in our new Mac Pro, the wires were not long enough and the device was not appropriate for that generation of chassis. So we just went Firewire 800 and will try to deal with the SATA issue at a future time.
