The Kirk BL-50D Compact L-Bracket is an ultra-compact and lightweight L-bracket that is custom designed to snugly fit a Canon 50D (also compatible with 40D) camera body. Machined from one single piece of 6061T6 industrial strength aluminum, it provides full access to all switches, sockets, and the battery drawer. This design allows you to release, turn, and remount your camera in mere seconds, when switching from horizontal to vertical orientation and back. It is especially ideal for use with shorter macro, wide-angle, and tilt-shift lenses.

Comments about Kirk BL-50D Compact L-Bracket for Canon 50D Camera Body:
The L-bracket fits great on the 50D. There is plenty room on side to insert remote switch. I bought the Arca-Swiss ball-head to which the bracket attaches. Shooting vertical on centered tripod by using the bracket-side is much better than tipping head over and trying to reset the camera in line with, say, an architectural subject. I have not yet built up speed in transferring camera-on-L-bracket from horizontal to vertical positions.

Comments about Kirk BL-50D Compact L-Bracket for Canon 50D Camera Body:
I have owned this now for the past two weeks, and have used it several times. Attaches like any quick release mount to a standard Arca-Swiss type mounting plate, both in landscape and portrait mode. Very solid build, allows full access to battery compartment, accessory jacks, and the jack for the cable release. Fits perfectly onto the 50D frame. Adds a little to the overall weight, but I have not really noticed it much. I anticipate keeping this mounted on my camera full time.

Comments about Kirk BL-50D Compact L-Bracket for Canon 50D Camera Body:
I was a little hesitant when I purchased this clamp as a way of easily mounting my 50D to my Manfrotto ball head. As soon as it came I knew I made a great choice. The fit and finish is impeccable, and it is very solid, which no flex at all. The only downside I have, is I decide to grip my camera, I need to buy a new one.

Comments about Kirk BL-50D Compact L-Bracket for Canon 50D Camera Body:
The reason I went with this bracket was so it wouldn't add significantly to the camera profile. I am happy with it. It looks like it is part of the camera.

Comments about Kirk BL-50D Compact L-Bracket for Canon 50D Camera Body:
This is a great product. I lost the standard base plate that came with my Kirk BH1. I got this instead as a replacement and I'm very very satisfied. Quality is top-notch and even the design has a low-profile.

Comments about Kirk BL-50D Compact L-Bracket for Canon 50D Camera Body:
Works as "advertised." I wish I had been using this earlier.
I have this attached to my Canon 40D at all times. Works perfectly with my Kirk BH1 Ballhead (as expected). Quality of metal is superb. I don't have any complaints, except this: If they can design this to be slightly thinner (especially the section that allows for portrait orientation of camera on the BH1 Ballhead), that would just be great. For me, it's not even heavy, and I don't feel any weight difference when I attach it to my Canon 40D.

Comments about Kirk BL-50D Compact L-Bracket for Canon 50D Camera Body:
Although not cheap, I love the build quality and perfect fit on my 50D. Works excellent with the Kirk 2 STANDARD QUICK RELEASE with a tripod. It also allows use of the Canon E1 hand strap without needing the battery grip.
