The Manfrotto 694CX Carbon Fiber 4-Section Monopod is a compact and lightweight 4 leg section monopod that combines the strength of magnesium and carbon fiber. The monopod is crafted from carbon fiber using an exclusive, patented process. Under intense pressure, extra long carbon fibers are combined with resin to produce a stronger tube that absorbs more vibration - and with a wall thickness of only 1.2mm.
Manfrotto engineers have also replaced all aluminum components with magnesium. The switch represents a lateral move in sturdiness, yet a substantial gain in strength and overall reduction of weight. The average weight reduction of magnesium compared to aluminum is about 35%.

This is a super stable well built monopod. Solid engineering, clean machined edges, and super light.
Excellent height range for sitting, kneeling, or standing and shooting.

Comments about Manfrotto 694CX Carbon Fiber 4-Section Monopod - Supports 11 lbs (5kg):
One of the lighter monopods on the market & very stiff. MUCH faster to deploy than a tripod. And combined with with a good optical image stabilizer & self timer, has allowed shutter times as long as a quarter of a sec. (Might be able to go for longer times.)
The rubber foot is a blunt tip, covered in rubber. Not flat enough to place on a floor & not pointy enough to dig into soil, or even be used as a walking stick. An interchangeable foot would have been a much better idea.
When completely compacted, too long for my daypack, and the mentioned tripod case is overkill.
Use for bracketted exposures is suspect. Minimal success, but suspect my ignorance of Photomatix is the problem, not the use of the monopod.
Bottom Line: If I'm walking anywhere, and not doing night or scene mode HDR, this is a mandatory accessory.

Light weight. durable, nice non flashy or reflective black carbon fiber. able to hold more weight than i expected. I upgraded from aluminum to this monopod and it was well worth the price. Especially when backpacking or climbing

Comments about Manfrotto 694CX Carbon Fiber 4-Section Monopod - Supports 11 lbs (5kg):
As a keen amateur photographer I need a good solid platform from whioch to make my images, and I believe that the monopod is just the thing. Secondly the wieght factor compensates for having the head fixed. Finally a monopod is also a good answer to having to choose between a tripod or walking poles, and a monopod also uses less ground space than a tripod.

Comments about Manfrotto 694CX Carbon Fiber 4-Section Monopod - Supports 11 lbs (5kg):
Originally I bought Manfrotto 681B MONOPOD. But the 681B Monopod is too long [Folded Length is 26.4" (67 cm)] and little "heavy" [Weight is 1.7 lb] if I use Lowepro FLIPSIDE 400 AW backpack.
Actually, it is for 70-200mm lens with 5D MII, and it has 4-sections [Folded Length is 21.3" (54 cm)] and lightweight [Weight is 1.3 lb].
I used it for 5D MII + 70-200mm lens, and took 300+ pictures. It works perfectly fine for me. Only drawback is pricey.

Comments about Manfrotto 694CX Carbon Fiber 4-Section Monopod - Supports 11 lbs (5kg):
I use this primarily for closeup and macro photography. It's extremely useful in locations where a tripod might be considered a nuisance in crowded areas. When I'm burdened by terrain and carrying a lot of lenses (in addition to the D700), there's no excuse not to pack this monopod.
It works quickly and easily. I recommend the ball head because it's gives you the advantage of tilting your camera in any direction.

I have used a monopod for six years; but, have struggled with the cams when folding up or down. This unit works quickly with ease.

Comments about Manfrotto 694CX Carbon Fiber 4-Section Monopod - Supports 11 lbs (5kg):
Use with 300mm and 200mm lens. My only complaint - after one week, 2 of the 3 rubber pieces on the top have come off as well as 1 of 3 rubber caps covering the screws that tighten the monopod.
