The Manfrotto 695CX Carbon Fiber 5-Section Monopod is a compact and lightweight 5 leg section monopod that combines the strength of magnesium and carbon fiber. The monopod is crafted from carbon fiber using an exclusive, patented process. Under intense pressure, extra long carbon fibers are combined with resin to produce a stronger tube that absorbs more vibration - and with a wall thickness of only 1.2mm.
Manfrotto engineers have also replaced all aluminum components with magnesium. The switch represents a lateral move in sturdiness, yet a substantial gain in strength and overall reduction of weight. The average weight reduction of magnesium compared to aluminum is about 35%.

Comments about Manfrotto 695CX Carbon Fiber 5-Section Monopod - Supports 11 lbs (5kg):
I love the solid feel of this monopod. Another plus is that it is light but strong enough for my 7D and 1.5 lb lens. I bought it with the 496 RC2 head.
This monopod was my choice because I wanted one light enough and small enough to carry on the plane. Next week I will be traveling to Italy and I am sure it will be great for those European landscapes and buildings.

I have not taken my monopod out yet, but the construction is very durable for such a compact size. Able to fit in my carry-on luggage and sturdy enough to be used as a hiking stick. easily adjustable.

I will use this monopod shooting high school sports. The craftsmanship and materials are outstanding. It feels a little heavier than I expected but I am very pleased with the folded and extended size.

Comments about Manfrotto 695CX Carbon Fiber 5-Section Monopod - Supports 11 lbs (5kg):
I bought this monopod to replace a "good" one I thought I could get by with. After 1 fast-moving sporting event, the "good" one had me completely frustrated. Instead of focusing on "the shot" I was focused on trying to get the monopod to work. This Manfrotto is a dream. I have used it several times, and instead of thinking about the pod, all my attention is on the shot. It is easy to use, works quickly, and my attention is back on the shots. This pod is great. And it is built to last.

Comments about Manfrotto 695CX Carbon Fiber 5-Section Monopod - Supports 11 lbs (5kg):
I bought this monopod mainly for it's small size when closed. I wanted a monopod for the upcoming Formula 1 race in Monza. I want to be able to take pictures from my seat in the stands as well as moving around the fences and the track. Unfortunately, the race is in two weeks so I cannot give a full review yet. However, I did take many test shots at a football practice just to try it out and I can say that it is exactly what I was looking for.
I am using a Manfrotto 468MGRC3 ball head with a Canon 5D MII and 70-200mm f/2.8L IS attached to the lens mounting ring. This monopod combined with the IS lens feature is a nice combination.
Pros: Very light and small when closed, excellent for traveling. You still are not allowed to carry it in the overhead compartment on a plane, however. Plenty sturdy to use with a heavy lens and body. Plenty tall when fully extended. I'm 6'2" and was still comfortable when shooting from the stands while resting it on the bleacher below.
Cons: Because it has 5 sections, which I assume is needed to keep it small, the last sections are quite thin and there is some flexing which for me is a fair trade-off as I really wanted a small and light monopod. Also the rubber protector at the bottom is quite small and it got stuck several times in the soft dirt. I am concerned that it will pop off and I will lose it some day without realizing it. Also, I find the hand strap too small for my hands and I have difficulty getting my hand in and out without the help of my other hand which I need to keep hold of the camera. Anyway, not a major issue, just wish there was a couple of more inches of material to adjust the strap more.
Overall, I am very happy with this monopod and if my opinion changes after the race I will try to update my review.
