Not suitable for "full-frame" sensor cameras, or for 35mm film SLR cameras
The Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 II EX DC HSM lens is a compact, lightweight, large aperture telephoto zoom lens designed exclusively for digital SLR cameras. The version II of this high-quality lens has been optimized with an even better optical design, which provides optimum lens performance providing excellent correction for flare, ghosting and all types of aberrations. The super multi-layer lens coating reduce flare and ghosting and ensure sharp images throughout the entire zoom range. When used with a Pentax digital SLR camera, this lens provides an equivalent range of approx. 75-225mm.
DC lenses are exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras. The image circle (rear of lens) is made to match the smaller dimensions used for the image sensor on digital cameras. As a result, these lenses are also more compact and lightweight, and are better matched to digital SLR cameras.
Note! Not suitable for "full-frame" sensor cameras, or for 35mm film SLR cameras

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 II EX DC HSM Lens for Pentax APS-C Sensor Cameras:
I am the photographer for my city's recreation district, so I shoot soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball, etc. I first ordered the Sigma 70-200mm HSM II lens but quickly sent it back since it had back focus issues, chromatic aberrations, and soft IQ overall. I received my second copy of that lens but found that it shared all the problems of the first. At this point I was beginning to become discouraged because I needed a lens that is fast (f/2.8), sharp, and has super fast AF...
I decided to try the Sigma 50-150mm and was immediately surprised. It fit the bill perfectly--fast, sharp (yup razor sharp at f/2.8), and supersonic fast AF (mhm, from my tests it beats the 70-200mm in AF speed). On top of that, it is much lighter (almost half the weight) than the 70-200mm, making it far more pleasant to use for extended periods of time. Very maneuverable and easy to use. Build quality is excellent.
Quite frankly, there really are no cons to this lens. The only thing I can think of (which isn't really a con) is the finish--it's high quality, but I don't prefer the bumpy/sparkly finish.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this lens. On a side note, the wider focal length (50mm) is sooo nice for indoor basketball. I'm currently using this on my Pentax K-7 and will soon be upgrading to the K-5.

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 II EX DC HSM Lens for Pentax APS-C Sensor Cameras:
After all the "weak at 150" and FF horror stories, I expected to receive nothing but problems. I am happy to report that my copy is fantastic. Well built, nicely damped MF, fast accurate AF, acceptably sharp wide open, even better at F/4, and really pleasing bokeh. I am very glad I chose this over the 50-135. Worth noting though, I don't think Sigma's 1.4 TC works with this. Sigma advised about 2 years ago of an issue, not sure if resolved. If you intend to use with their 1.4 HSM TC, you should check first with Sigma.

Comments about Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 II EX DC HSM Lens for Pentax APS-C Sensor Cameras:
I have had this lens for a few months now and it has become my favorite and most used lens.
Pros:
-Very quiet focusing
-Buttery Bokeh
-Beautiful color production- very accurate
-Tack Sharp when in focus even at f/2.8
-Build quality on par with other Sigma EX Lenses
Cons:
-Severe back focusing issues with my copy (corrected with AF adjustment on K20D)
Overall I think this a great lens on par with the optical quality of the Pentax DA* 50-135. While this lens does not have weather sealing, it does provide an extra 20mm, which I find very useful. Some reviews state that towards the long end the lens becomes somewhat soft. From my experiences, the lens is tack sharp throughout its range even wide open, providing you get a good copy.
