I have some experience setting up lights on video shoots, and am just getting into doing it for myself in my photos.
I use these lights for green-screen photos at conventions. They work wonderfully for what they are. The stands are light but sturdy, and the internal springs in each section were a surprise but a welcome one.
The lights themselves are pretty simple, which is good. However, they're maybe a little too simple. The tilt-knob felt like I could strip it if I overtightened it. It also felt like it might slip over time from having the weight of the soft box on it. For now it's holding fine though. Also, the softbox is done like an umbrella, and it's difficult to get it assembled.
The diffusion does a great job, but since it velcros on the outside of the soft box, you can't use egg crate on it. It would also be nice to have a way to hold a gel closer to the bulb.
Speaking of the bulbs, the ones that were included only have a 60hr lifespan. I don't know if that's normal for these types of bulbs, but once they go I would spring for something a little more robust.

I would really love to write a review about the equipment, but it's hard because I have not received the complete kit! The box was completely sealed, showing no signs of being tampered, however the light bulbs were missing from the kit. Westcott has been responsive in getting my light bulbs, but I now have to wait another week before I can use the product! It's just frustrating.
But as for the rest of the kit, the stands looked like they are decently made, and appear to be sturdy. I like the fact they they can received different accessories incase I would like to use something else beside the light boxes.

Good product for the price. Very easy to setup! I have been using them in my home studio. I'm new to the business so I didn't have a huge budget these were a perfect fit!

I have a mobile photography studio that I set up at special events and night clubs. This kit has a small foot print which is great for the space I usually have to work in. The included floodlights were a bit warm for my usual 10x10 work area, so I bought some 300 watt compact florescent bulbs from the local home improvement store. That did the trick!

Comments about Westcott uLite Two Light Kit (120VAC):
Overall, I was very pleased with the product. It is not top of the line, but our lighting needs are not very demanding (independent documentaries and web/commercial video work) and this serves well. Set up is pretty straight forward (fast once you do it a couple times) and the kit is remarkably light and sturdy for the price. Much better than our old set up which was a pain to put together, hard to fit in small spaces and unreliable.

I'm a videographer and I don't use lights all that often, so I was looking for something that would get the job done without breaking the bank. These lights are the real deal for me. The quality is good. Setup is easy - no instructions necessary. They seem like they would travel well too. I'm totally happy with these.

I used this product for a professional portrait photo shoot in a space that was not lit well and tight to fit into. This product was easy to assemble and maneuver. I reccomend it for both amateur and professional photographers.

I am a photography student that needed to purchase some lightboxes for my class...I set up a small studio in my home and they work great. There are better ones out there but i am on a limited budget and for the money they are great. They are a little flimsy but to be honest i expected worse. They do the job i need them to at this time...I hopes this is helpful!!

Set up was fast and easy. It lights up my SMALL studio space well but the catchlights are not as big as I would like them to be. The 50" softbox would have been a better choice for me.
For someone just starting out though, this would be the way to go.

Comments about Westcott uLite Two Light Kit (120VAC):
Nice light for indoor portraits if you are on a budget and don't want to spring for strobes or something cooler. They are very bright and provide lots of diffused light, however, one of the bulbs didn't work, so they are sending another at no cost to me. The softboxes are a little tricky to open up, but will probably get easier with practice. The stands are nice and sturdy, and extend to over 6' tall. I will probably need something to carry them in eventually. Overall, I think they will work well for some nice indoor portraits or product photography.

Comments about Westcott uLite Two Light Kit (120VAC):
I photograph newborns mostly and like to use natural light but needed something to use in case it was a cloudy day or the house I am shooting t doesn't have enough light. This is exactly what I needed. I actaully ended up buying 85W Daylight Balanced Flourescent Lights so I can use them blended with the natural light coming in.
These are so easy to setup which again is exactly waht I needed. I really wanted soft boxes but was nervous about setting them and taking them down for every shoot but these just pop right into place.
I shoot newborns so I work in a pretty small space so they work perfect for that. If you are trying to light up a whole room there are not for you. They are more for close up protrait work I think.
For the price and for what you get and for the ease of use I highly recommend this product!

I use these for lighting for in-studio video and to surround my lightbox for product photos (plus one more above the box). I have been very happy with the kit, but I did also buy flourescent adaptors so it wouldn't get so hot when doing an all day product shoot. We use the bulbs that came with the lighting kit for the video work.

Comments about Westcott uLite Two Light Kit (120VAC):
We're gearing up to do in-house and on-location photography so needed a light set that could travel and setup with relative ease. Right out of the box, the light covers were pretty stiff - and didn't seem to want to stretch to the widest setting of the tines. It took a couple of us to muscle it a bit, so not sure how it will go with just one person.
The amount of light each box gives off is great. The stands are sturdy and easy to pop up and fold down.
Further use will afford more details and nuance but all in all seems like a good starter system.

Just used this kit in a photo shoot with my 2-year-old son. It is amazing what a difference a cheap light kit can make to your photos. With both lights at 500 watts I was able to shoot at ISO 400, 1/60 and still get an f/stop of f/5.6. Brilliant!
The down side is that this is a cheap kit, and you get what you pay for. Our studio has not had this kit very long and already some of the stand knobs are getting stripped out. However, we put a lot of wear on our equipment, as there are a lot of students using it. If you are carful with your equipment and take good care of it, this is the perfect kit to start out with. If money is not an issue for you, then get a pro kit like the Arri 1000 4 light kit.

Easty to setup. I wish it included a storage bag to take out in the field.
