The Indigo DJx from Echo is a ExpressCard interface for use with notebook computers and features 24-bit/96kHz converters. The interface replaces the notebook computer's onboard sound chip to provide pristine, crystal-clear 4-channel audio playback.
The card offers 2 stereo 1/8 inch analog outputs and also includes a headphone amplifier for powering studio headphones. This high-quality, dual-stereo output device is ideal for listening to CDs or DVDs on the road, mixing professional audio or for use in live performance applications. For live performance, the second output can be used to set up a preview cue mix, separate from the main audio program.
A unique feature of the Indigo DJx is the use of "virtual" outputs. The card appears to software as if it has 8 separate outputs, which are digitally mixed down to the physical outputs using the supplied "console" software and its on-board DSP. This makes for compatibility with all popular multi-track software. And with Echo's "multi-client" drivers, more than one application, such as an editor and a software synthesizer, can be playing back at the same time.

Comments about Echo Indigo DJx - Digital Audio Interface for Notebooks:
Picked this up to scale down my rig as I was lugging around a M-Audio Audiophile Firewire which is great and all, but I don't need another wall-wart and box on my stand. Enter the Indigo DJx. Sounds great and has the option to feed line out directly to the house. I actually STILL brought my own mixer to patch both lines so I could monitor both feeds in my headphones and provide better levels to the house/mixer fx/etc... but you don't need to.
Make sure you update your laptop's BIOS as I was having lock-up issues hardcore until I updated my MSI GX740's BIOS - Then it was smooth sailing!
B&H also had this on a major blow out price point which sealed the deal for me. Something like $70 less then any flea-bay sale and in fact, the cheapest I've ever seen!

Comments about Echo Indigo DJx - Digital Audio Interface for Notebooks:
I use this product for mobile DJing, and it does a great job at what its built for. I can plug in my headphones to the headphone port and connect the other output to my soundboard.
This comes with an express card slot spacer since this card only uses up half of the express card slot. The spacer gives it more stability while it is in the computer. The spacer seems a bit flimsy, but I haven't had any problems with it so no complaints here.

I use this product to listen to music over earbuds on my notebook. It sounds great !! A big improvement over the onboard sound card. Installation was a breeze. Had it up and running in just a couple minutes. I like the software that came with it. A plus is the cables included in the box.

Very good sounding card. Big improvement over my Dell 1525 Inspiron's onboard card. Much Warmer and more natural sounding. Installation and setup were a snap. Price is well worth it at [$] Using it with a set of Monster Turbine Pro in ear speakers. Sounds great !! Very happy with the purchase.

Comments about Echo Indigo DJx - Digital Audio Interface for Notebooks:
Driver install was smooth on Windows 7. Ableton Live 7 recognized the card, and was easily able to route sound to both outputs.
Some drawbacks is that the card insert feels a little flimsy, so care must be taken not to bump too hard while inserted. Since this connects directly to the expresscard bus, laptops with poorly shielded power supplies may hear some interference with this card, just like on the built-in audio.
All around, great for the price. Would recommend.

Comments about Echo Indigo DJx - Digital Audio Interface for Notebooks:
I bought the Indigo DJx for my laptop on 3/3/2010 and used it for the first time on 3/6/2010. For the mobile DJ who needs previewing capabilities while playing "live", this product is PERFECT!!! No big bulky external interfaces to hook up taking up an outlet space in your power conditioner, the iDJx is awesome and with the separate volume control for the headphones, you wont be struggling to hear the preview.
