The 250GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA Multimedia Storage / Player is a high-capacity stand-alone storage device with a plethora of state-of-the-art data-management and security tools. Now, you can back up and view your memory cards without computers or external power. The device boasts 250GB of storage capacity on a user-replaceable SATA HDD, and accepts 14 different memory card types, including Compact Flash Type I / II and SD/SDHC/MMC/MS/xD. Its high-speed USB 2.0 interface offers 32 MB/s transfer speed, and the device performs backup at 40 MB/s.
The COLORSPACE's sleek form-factor and powerful feature-set offers digital photographers peace of mind, speed of operation, and the ability to travel light and move quickly. This compact hand-held device ensures a seamless workflow by allowing photographers to shoot without hesitation; JPEG or RAW files can be transferred at 2.0GB/minute on a single battery charge.
Inside the HyperDrive, S.M.A.R.T. constantly monitors the hard drive's status for potential issues. A built-in data recovery tool can be employed to recover formatted, deleted, lost, or corrupted files from most memory cards. The integrity of each data-backup is checked by the CRC copy-verification system, and Data-Synchronization allows the HyperDrive to mirror its contents onto another HyperDrive or an external hard drive via USB OTG host technology. Incremental Backup allows the transfer of new images, while skipping over all of the previously saved data.
The HyperDrive's integral 3.2" QVGA LCD screen delivers vibrant color, contrast, and sharpness for on-site editing and proofing. Viewing RAW files of any type on the HyperDrive is never a problem, thanks to its RAW decoder; virtually any camera's raw file can be displayed, including those from medium-format digital backs. The zoom feature allows the shooter to confirm focus and overall sharpness, while the comprehensive R/G/B histogram can be accessed to provide exposure level information.

This is my 5th portable storage device, and by far the best. My last unit was a Hyperdrive Colorspace O which is a good device, but this one is even better. Backup times are up to 4 times faster than the Colorspace O, and functionality and usability have also been improved. You need to personally use this device to fully appreciate how fast memory cards can be copied! It's simple, reliable, has a user-replaceable battery and hard drive, plenty of battery charging options, and more functions than ever. The interface is still not fully intuitive and user manual is not quite complete; hopefully there will be updates. I give it four (not 5) stars because the interface and manual could be better, but the unit does its job better than anything else I know of.

I bought this device for a trip to Mexico. It held up pretty well. It previews raw images and you can navigate through all your files.
I really only had one issue with it. One of my cards that I tried to download, it downloaded the whole thing and then got stuck right before it was supposed to finish. I couldn't get the device to respond at all. I powered off and then when I turned it back on there was no sign of all the files I had just downloaded off the card. I tried it a couple times but it failed again. I took one more shot on my card and tried it again. This time it worked great. I figured it might be an issue with my card but the problems didn't stop there. I was using another external drive (Nexto DI extreme) to back up the colorspace on. It does have a great OTG sync feature which was working great. After my card download issue, when I tried to sync to my external drive, it gave me an error saying that one of the subfolders (did not give an actual name, just some .107 or something) had too many files in it and that a sync was not possible. From this point on out I just had to back up my cards individually to both the colorspace and the Nexto DI.
Other than that this thing worked great. It was still a great device. I got home, hooked it up to my computer, and downloaded all my files straight to my computer.
Not a bad device, just a little quirky. Still did what I needed on my trip.
The OTG functionality of this device is great. You can back up to/from any external device that has its own power source.

I use this storage device when out on a shoot before packing up. That way I know I have a second backup just in case something would happen to my CF card. So easy to use and super fast. I then transfer images from the storage device to both my backup drives once I get home.

Comments about Sanho 250GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA Multimedia Storage / Player:
The battery life is phenomenal- I backed up 30+GB and still had 75% battery life left. Backups are very quick too- I have been getting at least 1.5GB/minute actual transfer speed. The only thing that is not so good is browsing pictures. RAW files are pretty slow to view and zoom in and out of. Using the camera to check photos is much faster and easier.

I wanted a memory card storage to download my memory cards while I am on holiday, on the road for long period of time or in parks or wilderness where bringing a laptop is not always an option.

We took a short vacation to the California coast this weekend. I returned with about 900 files, mostly photos, but maybe 2 dozen AVCHD movies as well. My wife has 200 files of her own backed up on the HyperDrive.
The unit works as advertised. It is easy to use, with a simple yet functional interface. It backed up my 16GB CF card (22MB images and AVCHD video files), and my wife's 8GB SD card, quickly (about 1GB/min on the former).
Picture review works: I figured out what the 4 buttons multi-controller did w/o consulting the tiny manual. File review verified that the video files were off the memory card and on the HyperDrive disk.
I downloaded my files to my MAC this morning w/o incident and burned my wife's images to a DVD directly from the HyperDrive. No complaints at all. The price was right too.

Comments about Sanho 250GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA Multimedia Storage / Player:
After having purchased the Epson P-2000 when it was first introduced years ago, I have been wary of these devices. The P-2000 was a wonderful product in most respects, though incredibly slow in comparison to UDMA speeds. However, it became useless as new cameras came onto the market. It read the raw files from my Canon 40D, but not those from my 5D MkII. With no firmware updates forthcoming from Epson, it became a paperweight.
Sanho promises firmware updates for the Hyperdrive ColorSpace UDMA, to support new raw file formats and variances as they come onto the scene. While that is still no more than a promise, at least they address the issue up front.
I use a lot of Epson products and love them, I have Epson Stylus Pro 7900 and Stylus Photo 2200 printers, epson scanners, etc., and I think very highly of that brand. However, my experience with the P-2000 has led me to exclude consideration of any of its successors.
In addition to firmware updates, Sanho supports, documents and encourages user installation of replacement hard drives as higher capacities become available. These two factors lead me to have reasonable confidence that I may not have another paperweight on my hands when the next model Canon camera is introduced.
My need is simply to be able to backup raw files off of a compact flash card onto a pocket sized, self powered device in the field, to then be able to simply copy the data again onto my notebook when convenient, and then later onto a desktop raid array. The Sanho device meets these needs fabulously.
The inclusion of a display allowing the files to be viewed is a useful plus. However, this product is not really useful as a pocket photo viewer, when you're dealing with 21.1 megapixel raw files. If you need to look at a particular picture, the time it takes to do that is palatable enough. But you're not going to want to step through a slideshow of several dozen raw images, as it takes too long to display each one. It is not clear whether this device is performing a raw conversion or displaying the raw file's embedded jpeg. In any case, it take's too long to browse through a bunch of large raw files that you have copied to its hard disk.
If you shoot raw and jpeg, there is a noticeable difference in the time needed to display the two file types. The jpegs are quicker. One of the things that I find curious is that the camera generated jpegs tend to look much nicer on this display than the converted raw files do. The display of a raw image looks splotchy or posterized. I have to say that the Epson P-2000's 3.8" VGA screen is much nicer, and it does a much better job of displaying any raw images that it happens to be able to convert, but where is the firmware update support from Epson?
So, if backup of UDMA compliant compact flash cards is what you're after, and your requirements for photo display are not overly rigorous, this is the tool for you.
I also use it just to transfer large amounts of data from one machine to another, as you would any small format portable hard drive.

I bought the 250 GB Model. Fast downloads from my CF Cards. I really appreciate the long battery charge life. The screen resolution is great for viewing images. In the interest of keeping the battery charged, it's hard to keep from viewing the entire slide show. One had to remember the unit is for image storage, not multimedia entertainment.
