The 500GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA Multimedia Storage / Player is a high-capacity stand-alone storage device with a plethora of state-of-the-art data-management and security tools. Now, you can back up and view your memory cards without computers or external power. The device boasts 500GB of storage capacity on a user-replaceable SATA HDD, and accepts 14 different memory card types, including Compact Flash Type I / II and SD/SDHC/MMC/MS/xD. Its high-speed USB 2.0 interface offers 32 MB/s transfer speed, and the device performs backup at 40 MB/s.
The COLORSPACE's sleek form-factor and powerful feature-set offers digital photographers peace of mind, speed of operation, and the ability to travel light and move quickly. This compact hand-held device ensures a seamless workflow by allowing photographers to shoot without hesitation; JPEG or RAW files can be transferred at 2.0GB/minute on a single battery charge.
Inside the HyperDrive, S.M.A.R.T. constantly monitors the hard drive's status for potential issues. A built-in data recovery tool can be employed to recover formatted, deleted, lost, or corrupted files from most memory cards. The integrity of each data-backup is checked by the CRC copy-verification system, and Data-Synchronization allows the HyperDrive to mirror its contents onto another HyperDrive or an external hard drive via USB OTG host technology. Incremental Backup allows the transfer of new images, while skipping over all of the previously saved data.
The HyperDrive's integral 3.2" QVGA LCD screen delivers vibrant color, contrast, and sharpness for on-site editing and proofing. Viewing RAW files of any type on the HyperDrive is never a problem, thanks to its RAW decoder; virtually any camera's raw file can be displayed, including those from medium-format digital backs. The zoom feature allows the shooter to confirm focus and overall sharpness, while the comprehensive R/G/B histogram can be accessed to provide exposure level information.

I bought this to use for daily card backups while we are on safari. Buy the empty Colorspace UDMA shell and put in your own notebook-size hard drive - I used a 320 GB 7200 RPM Seagate drive with a G-Force sensor that helps if dropped. With a drive that much larger than I need, I will be writing to the outer disc tracks and can avoid using the difficult HDD inner tracks. I wrote an SDL script which separates the RAW and JPEG files from my E-30's CF card into 2 directories as it backs up, then copies the JPG files to a "safety backup" 32 GB SD card I keep in the Hyperdrive's 2nd slot. My Extreme IV cards tranfer a full 4 GB in just under 4 minutes, including the SD card writes, verifying all data with hard-drive readback of CRC codes as well as displaying each photo as it transfers. The battery will power many card backups between charging.

Attention. This Hyper Drive does not work with Canon Mark IV!!! They have not as of 12.18.10 made the software for this camera. Hopefully it will be ready in a few weeks.

Comments about Sanho 500GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA Multimedia Storage / Player:
I purchased this product after being dissatisfied with another (less expensive) product. I use mainly 16GB 90 MB/s UDMA CF cards and had a hard time finding a drive that would be compatible with these cards, so beware if you're looking for a portable external drive w/ card reader and use this type of card or faster. This one protects the CF card a little more, comes with a little case you can put on your belt, and wow, it's fast. I think it was less than 10 minutes for the entire card to be transferred, that's faster than my iMac and LR 3. Feels sturdy in your hand, yet is quite small. I've only tried it twice but so far, quite happy with this one.

Limited use to date but so far so good. Interface a little clunky to start but once you get used to it is fine. Will be storing photos from our upcoming trip to USA to free up memory card space.

Comments about Sanho 500GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA Multimedia Storage / Player:
The HD Colorspace 500 GB charges up quickly and turns on the same. It uploaded a 32GB UMDA Flash card in a quick fashion as well as deleted it all in good time.
The navigation of images and seeing them in full frame is quick and easy to access as well.
I like its size as it is reasonable to store away
So far, there are no negatives

Comments about Sanho 500GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA Multimedia Storage / Player:
The HyperDrive Colorspace UDMA is fast and allows you to easily copy from a memory card to it; from it to an additional external hard drive (using the OTG adapter) and from it to your computer. Once you conquer the instructions it is easy and straight forward. The instructions are those of a nerd to a nerd! [...]

Comments about Sanho 500GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA Multimedia Storage / Player:
The unit is what I expected. 500GB card reader and storage with the ability to download ~250 GB on one charge.
Display quality concerns do not bother me as I use this as 3rd backup (after my laptop and copies to 2 external drives). What I care about is my laptop running out of battery or failing and having a way to empty my cards when I am in the field for several weeks.
My only real issue is with the read/write speed of the 600x cards out there today. They read at slower rates (< 30MB.s) than the Sandisk Extreme IV cards (< 38 MB/s). I talked with the company and this is expected as the device was designed before the faster cards and there is a complex negotiation that takes place before both the device and the card agree to communicate at the lower speed.
Knowing what I do now I would still buy this unit again as there is nothing out there that can read any faster and provide the same features

I needed a way to quickly backup 16 Gb CompactFlash cards while shooting a holiday basketball tournament. Within less than 10 minutes, the HyperDrive device backed up the over 500 25 Mb files. I was able to then quickly import the files from the HyperDrive to my MacBook at a later time.
This drive is incredibly fast (compared to other back-up drives I've used). The battery life is also far longer than many other drives on the market. It is very lightweight. Additionally, the 500 Gb storage capacity is outstanding.
i highly recommend the HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA drive for photographers needing to quickly copy photographs in order to safely have a backup (and to enable quick re-use of media cards0.

I plan on using this product on extended trips where I don't want to take a bulky laptop to back up photos from my memory cards. It's storage capacity (500 gig.) is 100 gigabytes more than my laptop. Not only does it have a lot of storage capacity, it also displays photos and allows one to zoom in to check for focus, etc. In fact, there are features on this unit that I haven't even used yet. I gave it a five star rating because I believe it will be more than adequate for my temporary storage needs.

Comments about Sanho 500GB HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA Multimedia Storage / Player:
I purchased the Colorspace UDMA in June ahead of a month-long field trip in the Amazon, thinking it would be a handy backup for my photos "just in case" my computer crashed. Well, "just in case" happened the second day out and I ended up storing all 6000+ of my photos only on the Colorspace UDMA. The photo information files were stored perfectly and the device definitely saved my trip.

I purchased the casing and purchased a 500 GB Seagate G-Force drive to put into it; Straightforward, easy, and successful. I purchased this product because it also has USB OTG (On The Go); a separate module that is a USB host. This allows you to back up your photos and videos from the Hyperdrive to a portable hard drive (or 2) like the Seagate Free agent without a computer.
Simple, clean, redundant copies of your days work backed up on two or more hard drives.
We are headed to Alaska this next summer and face baggage and weight limits on the float plane. The first week we are unlikely to see a computer; this solution allows me to have 2 copies of all photos and video on 2 different hard drives.
