I bought this cable so I could transfer files from an old computer to my new one. It worked great! Transfer speed was very fast - I'm not sure of an exact number here, but moving many gigs of files and applications took under an hour. The flat construction, while stylish, is a little tough to maneuver between two computers as it does not exactly bend the way you want. Other than that, a great item at a really great price!

This cable is cheap and effective. I use it to daisy chain my glyph drive to my mbox pro and it works great! Why pay 10x the amount for a cable in another place when this does the job well? Great cable and the styling is pretty nice as well.

I needed a cable adapter so that I could use an FW 800 external HD on my little travel Macbook 13inch that has only a FW 400 port. I stopped in the B&H store and asked for such a thing and the helpful sales person recommended this over the adapter. It cost 1/2 as much and works like a charm.

I use a number of firewire audio interfaces and have always had the problem of carrying around loads of cable with excessively rigid shielding. The LaCie slim firewire cables are a life saver. If cable management is a pain, try these instead.

This cable is very inexpensive, and works perfectly fine for my pro-audio production needs.
That said, the flat ribbon cable design of this product makes it extremely difficult to manage. Unless you physically tie it down, it does not lie flat and springs up into annoying loops. If this is the kind of thing that bothers you, shell out the extra 6 bucks for a standard cable.

Caveat: Being flat not round it is a bit less flexible than the usual round cables. However, it is really flat which can be desirable in some cases.
