I previously owned a black flat firewire 400 cable that I've had for years, and now with newer computers and equipment, I went for this type of cable again, although with it being orange was a huge plus this time.
One thing someone may not like, with a round cable, it easily bends and moves around, and with a flat, if you twist it, it may feel as though it will begin to tangle. It hasn't happened with this cable yet, but it may be because I already know how to deal with it from previously owning flat.

I picked one of these up to replace a missing FW-800 cable for an external hard drive. Connected it up, all looked fine. Then I started a long-running, data-intensive process on that hard drive.
The data transfer froze a little over halfway through.
On top of that, one of my other external hard drives (I have four cases for various purposes) wouldn't connect to my system through this cable.
Steer clear; buy a better quality cable that won't drop out on you halfway through.

Needed a dedicated cable for my Lacie Rugged drive so I don't have to keep plugging and uplugging from the computer. Better price at B&H than at [@], even with shipping. No brainer!

Comments about LaCie FireWire-800 Flat Cable - 3.94' (1.2m):
I bought it because the cable that came with my Lacie Rugged was too short and rather thick. This cable is perfect, really good length and it's amazingly flat. I haven't travelled with it just yet so I don't know how durable it is. The connector pins are comfortable and with it's colour (which matches the ex/ hard drive) it's impossible to misplace it or bump it while in use.

Comments about LaCie FireWire-800 Flat Cable - 3.94' (1.2m):
These cables compact nicely for when I'm traveling, and are certainly better than the cables that came with my external hard drives. The only drawback I have noticed is that the connectors can slip out of the ports, given the right pressure. This isn't much of a problem for me - I don't pick up my hard drives and move them around while I'm editing, but if a person felt the need to straighten the cables (they are quite twisted from being rolled), they would likely unplug their hard drive in-use.

Works as advertised. I bought it because it's one of the cheapest FireWire cables around. Orange color is nice, but may not be as professional as black depending on the use. The flat cable is neat for coiling up and doesn't tangle easily. Comes with labels to identify the ends if you have multiple cables.

Comments about LaCie FireWire-800 Flat Cable - 3.94' (1.2m):
The flat design of this cable means that it is almost impossible for it to get tangled up in itself or with other cables. The color also makes it stand out, and it is also easy to tell which side goes up. I use it to connect my MacBook Pro to the external drive I use for Time Machine backups. I only wish they made a longer version.

I bought this for my iomega external drive to connect to my imac. This cable is flat and orange as what you see on the picture provided. It's a nice change to the standard black or white cable. It works so no complaints. Price is not bad too compared to standard fw800 cables

LaCie makes great products. This is the only orange firewire cable I have making it easy to see which drive it's attached to. I wish more colors were available.

What can you say about a firewire cable?
I like that it's flat... not that that's necessary but it looks cool. The orange matches my lacie rugged drive.
When you have a bunch of Beautiful Mac gear and external hard drives you dont want some clunky cord. This one looks nice, wraps up in a cool looking coil, is flat instead of round. It screams professional.

Comments about LaCie FireWire-800 Flat Cable - 3.94' (1.2m):
Flat cable, wish two things: that they made shorter versions and more importantly that the Same cables came in different colors so in the disordered mess that can accumulate it would be easier to trace where each one was going to (like multiple USB's for instance), particularly in a 'rack mount' system. Right now colors are coded to function which is self evident via the type of end connector
