About the Author: Matthew Bamberg began his career in the arts as a graduate student at San Francisco State University in 1992. His work in the visual and media arts included video production and software applications. He completed his Masters in Creative Arts in 1997.
After being a public school teacher for 14 years, Bamberg became a writer. He began to photograph for the articles he was writing while working for the Desert Sun and Palm Springs Life magazine in the Palm Springs area of California. In 1999, Bamberg began photographing mid-century architecture and signage. His prints (he prints his own photographs from managing color in Photoshop to printing on an Epson printer) began selling locally and, later, all over Southern California. In 2005, Bamberg's book Digital Art Photography for Dummies was published.
The book was written as full-color guide that uses the fun, friendly "For Dummies" style. Bamberg worked with the publisher to start the blog, The Digital Traveler. The blog became a popular forum where people could get photography tips as well as travel recommendations for places of interest for photographers.
He has written content and provided photographs for articles on Homestore.com, America Online, and The Weather Channel and currently blogs for wize.com, writes feature columns for the Press-Enterprise in the Inland Empire and teaches education classes at National University. Bamberg will begin teaching photography at University of California, Riverside in April.
