The PN50B550 TV's high brightness lets you place it in any convenient location, while its 600Hz Subfield Motion frame rate is analyzed and then adjusted so nothing goes by in a blur.
The PN50B550 comes with a full complement of inputs, ensuring that you'll be able to hook up any equipment you have or may get in the future. The unit includes 4-HDMI and 2-component jacks for high-definition devices, composite jacks for legacy devices, and a PC input that lets you use the set as a big-screen computer monitor. In addition, the built-in ATSC/Clear QAM tuning system receives virtually any type of cable service, including high definition. The Samsung PN50B550 is energy efficient and is Energy Star compliant. A special energy saving mode can dim the backlights without affecting the picture quality.

Could not ask for a better picture for the price. HD is just as good as any of my friends with more expensive sets whether they're plasma or LCD. The TV did not work with my Comcast Cable Box with HDMI cables, so I had to use component cables.The speakers in the TV are almost useless and distort sound badly even at low to regular volumes. I expected the sound would be poor, so no surprise there. Luckily B&H was offering a combo deal with a blu-ray player with surround sound, so now we just turn the TV volume down and always use the one box home theater system.

Very little setup was required to tune the Samsung for my entertainment room and my first experience with HDMI cabling was wonderful. A perfect blend of features and performance with a competitive price. The PN50B550 has all the capabilities of higher priced sets with 1080p, anti-glare filter, lots of inputs, and a conservative design. Have had very little problem with glare that has plagued many older plasmas. Refresh rate is fantastic versus LCD, as are most plasmas. As an amateur, I think it has great picture color accuracy and deep black levels. With some searching online, you can find some settings that really enhance the picture. Only thing it lacks at this price is internet connectivity with Netflix, etc. Also, as with most plasmas, it is less energy efficient versus similar sized LCDs, however this new series from Samsung are much improved over previous versions and is energystar certified. It has energy saving modes as well for the green consicious. Controls and interface are very user friendly, and remote is well organized. Sound quality is on par with similar sets and includes SRS Trusurround. The firmware is also able to be updated via USB. Overall a fantastic bargain for a great television.

I use this set in my new basement family room. The kids play their PS3 on it, watch blu-ray, and HD cable. The picture & graphics are fantastic and the sound is very good, without being connected to a home theater system.
