The Samsung UN46B8000 will bring you hours of viewing pleasure. With a full 1080p HD resolution and a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio it displays a vivid, crisp image with details in both the light and dark areas on the screen.
It's a pleasure to listen to also. Just two stereo speakers can create an uncanny surround sound illusion thanks to the wizardry of SRS TruSurround HD. TS HD actually seems to create "phantom speakers" that project sound throughout your watching and listening area. And these are just the basics on this set.
Plug in a USB thumb drive (not included) into one of the set's USB ports and view a JPEG picture file slide show while you listen to a soundtrack of MP3 files from the same drive. You can even watch movies in more than a dozen formats (including the popular MPG, AVI and ASF formats.
Imagine playing a console or PC game (there's a PC input) on a 46" screen! In Game Mode dark areas are enhanced, the picture is sharpened all around and the image processing is sped up. With the touch of a button the picture and sound quality are optimized for the special needs of gaming systems.
Then there's Medi@2.0, a collection of features that turn your UN46B8000 from just a great TV into a true 21st Century information appliance using your high speed Internet connection.
With Internet@TV Content Service you can receive content from Yahoo!, Flickr and more via on screen widgets.
DLNA syncs your connectable home electronics and it displays remote content on your TV.
You can enjoy hours of built-in entertainment features with the Preloaded Content Library (Flash) and then personalize it by adding content that's online.You can show digital home movies, photos, PC presentations and more on your TV, using the remote control, thanks to USB 2.0 Movie.
If you've been looking for a TV set that's more than just a TV set, the UN46B8000 just might be the answer

Comments about Samsung UN46B8000 46" LED TV:
I got this TV at a very special price when B&H had a promo that prompts you to click on a link so they can email you a better price. I guess I can't disclose the price itself but let's just say it's a couple of hundreds of dollars less than the SRP (when I say SRP, I mean best buy) =P
TV is great overall, picture quality is superb, unfortunately I don't have an HD cable TV subscription so the TV experience is so so. When you get to watch blue rays on it though, you'll be blown away by the sheer clarity and color quality.
I guess my only qualm is that the ultra fast refresh rate is so fast that it smoothens out the movies you're playing which basically for me takes away the cinematography of some movies which are designed to take advantage of the slow frame rate of cinema projectors... Or maybe it's just me unused to expensive TVs or not knowing how to set it up properly. =P

Comments about Samsung UN46B8000 46" LED TV:
Overall, a very impressive picture. However, it does have a tendency to exhibit some 'distortion' or 'pixelation' around fast-moving foreground objects at times, like any LCD TV. The 240Hz option(s) (there are several user choices as to how it is implemented) can sometimes almost make it worse in certain situations. This is my second one, and the honest store clerks will tell you that they sometimes get that complaint. This model also has the ability to dim the LED backlighting to facilitate a truer, more plasma-like black when appropriate. The problem is that unlike the 8500, it is an all-or-nothing proposition so it can in certain situations become a little distracting. One show that really highlited this issue was "Inside the Actors Studio". It is a dark set (and the picture was fabulous) but every time the actress raised her hand to gesture, the white of her hand was enough to cause the TV to bump up the backlighting, causing the picture to do a somewhat annoying "brighter-darker-brighter-darker" etc. oscillation.
Still, having compared this TV in my home side by side to the Samsung (plasma) PN50B860, in my opinion, this TV is better overall than a plasma and has the best picture out there, with the exception of the 8500 which was just too much money for me right now.
Comes with 2 remotes, one full-size to control everything and one peanut, for on/off, channel, volume. The full-size qualifies as a seismic activity detector, since the motion sensitive auto-backlight feature is incredibly sensitive - lay it on the table and walk by in the night and voila! Instant night light!
The reason I listed "Poor Connection Options" as a con is that I have some older A/V components and there is just no way to connect to this TV. HDMI and one set of component inputs are all you get. The Samsung plasma at least allowed you to connect a composite device. This won't be an issue if you have newer devices with HDMI capabilities.
Excellent color, deep blacks, sharp picture, better motion control than most, good looking, super thin, better sound than the others I tried. Why else would I buy 2??!!
(BTW, one little trick I learned by accident - haven't had time to see if it is in the book or an advertised feature, but if you wave your hand in front of the Samsung logo on the front, you can turn the TV on/off!)

Comments about Samsung UN46B8000 46" LED TV:
I have not yet attached the TV to the internet, but I think this will be an important feature in the near term. The picture on the TV is fantastic, even without HD. Better than my 2 year old Sony LCD, same size.
I think the RF remote is limiting and not as able to control other devices such as the satellite box. Can't see any reason why they used RF. My satellite remote would turn the Sony on and off, change volume, and some other things, but apparently not with this Samsung so I have to use two remotes.
TV is very nice looking with the transparent stand. I was going to mount it but maybe not...
B & H price was very good.

Comments about Samsung UN46B8000 46" LED TV:
My Samsung is used to watch mostly movies off my HDMI connected Mac Mini. some movies are DVD's, others xvid and others bluray.
Positives:
* Good Contrast.
* Easy to use
* Fluid image
* Very light and thin
Negatives:
* No Composite video
* 110V only on US bought TV's thus requiring step down transformer
* Visible and annoying Haloing in dark scenes due to the LED's
* problems connecting PC's/AV receiver to the TV due to "incorrect mode"
Conclusion: The Sammy is an awesome piece of machinery but I feel that it is probably not worth being an early adopter for these. Wait until a series 9 or revision of current models has taken place and then consider the take up.
