The 52" Samsung LN52B550 will bring you hours of viewing pleasure. With a full 1080p HD resolution and 70,000:1 contrast ratio it displays a vivid, crisp image with details in both the light and dark areas on the screen.
It's pleasure to listen to also. Two 10 watt stereo speakers can create an uncanny surround sound illusion thanks to the wizardry of SRS TruSurround HD. TS HD actually seems to create "phantom speakers" that project sound over your watching and listening area. And these are just the basics on this set.
Plug in a USB thumb drive (not included) into the set's USB port and view a JPEG picture file slide show while you listen to a soundtrack of MP3 files from the same drive.
Imagine playing a console or PC Game (there's a PC input) on a 52" screen! In Game Mode dark areas are enhanced, the picture is sharpened all around and the image processing is sped up. With the touch of a button the picture and sound quality are optimized for the special needs of gaming systems.

- High-resolution pixel density is combined with a built-in image scaler to handle inputs from a variety of digital and analog audio/video sources.
- 70,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
- A contrast ratio this broad means you'll be able to see detail in all parts of the image without "blowing out" the whites because you turned up the brightness to see detail in the dark areas or "crushing" the blacks because you turned down the brightness to see detail in the light areas.
- Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp LCD
- The LCD creates the image; the CCFL backlights it to make it visible. Together they create beautiful, vivid, saturated colors.
- SRS TruSurround HD
- Most DVDs and Blu-ray discs contain multichannel sound, some encoded with up to seven (6.1) channels. TS HD is the answer if you want to enjoy that sound without an expensive and complex A/V receiver. When receiving multichannel content, TruSurround HD "virtualizes" the channels, creating "phantom" speakers that appear to extend all around you, producing an amazing surround sound effect that has to be heard to be believed.
- Swivel Stand or Optional Wall Mount
- The LN52B550 comes with its own swivel mount that you can turn 20 degrees to the left or right. Or you can chose the optional wall mount specifically designed for this unit and hang it on the wall like a work of art.
- 6 ms Response Time
- One of the most important features for an LCD panel is the pixel response time. Response time refers to the amount of time it takes a pixel to "refresh" itself-to go from being active to being inactive, (ready to be re-activated). The lower the milliseconds, the faster the response time. A very fast 6 ms response time virtually eliminates any blurring and gives you smooth motion images.

I had a LG 37" tv and loved it, but wanted something bigger for my living room. Read the reviews about the sound quality. I don't have a problem with it. The LG may have been a little better, but I have no complaints with the TV.
