The WEM-1 is doing exactly what I wanted. In my surround sound home theater I am using it to drive the back speakers without running wires all over the place. You still need to run wires from the wireless receiver / amp but that is expected with any of these "wireless" units.
I have experienced no popping sounds and the unit was extremely easy to set up. Overall I am very happy with the JBL WEM-1 and at a 1/3 of the price of the KEF system it's a real bargain.

I read this description fairly quickly and didn't appreciate the limitations of this setup's design. There is ONE transmitter and ONE receiver. Therefore depending on your rear speaker layout, you may still have wires running everywhere to connect the two speakers from the central wireless receiver. This wasn't what I was looking for and I had to return the product. The setup from Audio Research has indepedent receivers so it is a better setup for minimizing wires.

Comments about JBL WEM-1 Wireless Expansion Module:
I purchased the WEM-1 for connecting classic JBL Monitor speakers, model 4311, to an audio amplifier elsewhere in the home. The JBL wireless expansion module replaces an old Kenwood wireless unit purchased several years ago which had begun to fail. The JBL is far superior, driving the old monitor speakers beautifully and providing excellent sound.

Comments about JBL WEM-1 Wireless Expansion Module:
The WEM-1 allowed me to add rear surround sound without having to run wires under the floor or through the ceiling joists. The unit can handle both pre amp outs or amplified outs. The auto on off system saves energy. It took me five minutes to set it up and the results are amazing!

It would be really great if you could just purchase the receiver. I now have a total of 6 transmitters and I only use one.

Comments about JBL WEM-1 Wireless Expansion Module:
I used this product to safe myself a world of grief and frustration. With the use of the WEM-1 I eliminated the need to crawl through my attic, over wooden beams and mounds of blown insulation and blowing a whole in my exterior wall to bring the speaker wire through. Instead I connected the WEM-1 to the rear speakers of my surround system by connecting 2 pairs of short wires from my receiver to the WEM-1 transmitter and 2 short wires from the WEM-1 receiver to the rear speakers. Plugged in the power of each device, turned on my receiver and wallah. That's it? Yep, that's it! No fuss, no mess, no probs. I can't detect any audio delay and the audio quality is superb. It's mounting versatility is great, vertical floor mount, feet pads for horizontal placement and a wall mount. All the hardware was provided. I'm considering purchasing another WEM-1 for the Zone 2 of my receiver so that I can wirelessly and effortlessly connect to the outdoor speakers. Hum, Great idea!!

Comments about JBL WEM-1 Wireless Expansion Module:
Extremely easy to set up and operate. I now have rear speakers for my home theater, without having to run speaker wires across the room. Since it works on RF and not IR, I have the receiving unit hidden under the couch. No muss, no fuss, and worth every penny.

Got this for my upstairs speakers. Home Entertainment setup has A/B switching so I can listen upstairs only, or both.
It has 4 channels to choose from. Found a usable clear channel after 2nd try -- 2.4 GHz cordless phone & wireless router interference caused voices to sound like evil aliens.
Adjustable antenna also helpful. Would like JBL to offer additional receivers for sale on their own.

Easy to set up, works great, what else can I say. I needed a wireless option for rear surround sound and with about 10 minutes of set up time, got it.

Remote does not work at all - signal gets cut off whne you stand in front of receiving unit - non-typical subwoofer connection on receiver unit - sound quality is not bad when reception is not disturbed

I purchased the JBL WEM-1 to rid myself of the speaker cables running around the room to my rear speakers.
The setup was simple and quick. The most time-consuming part was measuring and cutting the speaker wires for connecting to the receiver module.
Once connected to the A/V receiver and the speakers, all I had to do was plug it in, and it worked flawlessly from the start. No interference with or from our phone, wireless network. As I said, it works as advertised.

This wireless system connects my computer music to speakers in an adjoining room. I bought my first WEM-! from another vendor and its power supply failed. I got my money back (they would not replace the WEM) and then ordered from B&H. The replacement has worked flawlessly.

Comments about JBL WEM-1 Wireless Expansion Module:
We use this in a conference room to provide wireless sound for presentations. Not really what it is intended for, but it works great. It was easy to hook up, has plenty of power, and sounds clean. We have several other wireless systems in our building (also at 2.4 GHZ) and there has never been any issues with interference. Highly recommended for any application where wireless hook up of speakers is needed.
