.....wish I could give this more then 5 stars!! I don't think I've ever had a product so completely out preform my expectations. Also, the software for this is Mac compatible which was a huge plus in our household.
I've been a universal remote user for a long time. I recently had the Sony AX4000. After the screen on that went out I figured it was time to try something else. I have to say that many of the frustrating things about that remote are a breeze with the new Harmony 1100. Screen is very nice, but the ease of programming and customization is what makes this a keeper for me. People complained about" needing internet service for programming". However, If you don't have internet, you don't have any business buying a remote like this. Also, you don't have to be a tech geek (although I probably am) to get this set up. I love the on online functionality and the fact that your settings aren't captive on one computer. This operates all my flat screen tv's, Xbox, Denon receiver, Apple TV, Blueray it's just awesome!! I picked up the Sony remote the other day and realized what a relic that thing was!!! The only thing I've run into that I haven't figured out is copying the control settings when your using the remote for a duplicate piece of equipment in a 2nd location. It's not hard to reprogram the custom settings but it would be nice to just copy them.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I assumed that in 2011 I could certainly trust a company like LogiTech to create a user-friendly remote that would control all my media components. The Harmony 1100 is advertised as Mac compatible. Maybe it is, but getting my Mac to even recognize this remote almost took an act of Congress. I installed the included software and followed all the online prompts for setting up the remote until I got to a point where I couldn't advance to the next web page of instructions. So I started over...and it stopped at the same place. So I called LogiTech - 2 hours later I had spoken with 3 service reps - none of them could figure out the problem, so each one passed me on to someone "higher" up the food chain. Finally the 3rd gentleman said they would have to schedule one of the "Pros" to call me back that evening - we agreed that they would call me at 8 PM. So I waited - no one ever called. The next day I got BACK on the phone with LogiTech and gave them my "Incident Number" - and I had to explain it all over again - and they had me go through the same failed steps AGAIN. Nothing worked. The Mac (running Snow Leopard - latest version) did not even know anything was plugged into it. The support rep asked if I had a Windows PC I could use instead! Wow. He tried to convince me that something must be wrong with my Mac - so I called Apple and explained it all to them and they ran my machine through a series of test - no problems found - it's a new machine. So, I call LogiTech AGAIN. Finally got a guy who, through some roundabout way, got me set up online. It seemed all was well until I actually tried to USE the remote with my TV and stereo....nothing worked! It was as though they were speaking completely different languages...even though LogiTech had eventually walked me through every step of the set up. Unbelievable. I later saw that scores of Mac users have had incredibly difficult experiences trying to get this remote to work with their computers. So I suggest that LogiTech needs to understand the Mac platform and make whatever changes to their remotes that are necessary before they advertise them as Mac compatible. And I suggest that all Mac owners avoid a whole lot of frustration and look elsewhere for a universal remote until LogiTech remedies these issues. I'm returning the remote tomorrow.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 1100 Advanced Universal Remote:
We have one of those mixed-bag setups of different makes, brands and ages for HDTV, Cable Box, Surround Sound, Apple TV, BlueRay, etc..... We needed a remote that can control all of our devices - the Harmony 1100 does them all.
I spent about 15 minutes setting up the remote - the wizards stepped me through everything.
I also like the idea the remote is rechargeable - no more wasting batteries.
I am very satisfied.

i was told this device would work with Apple Limo New software, UHH UUHH,
On phone for hours with Logic Techs Customer Service in which they are located somewhere in India, i guess, Heavy accent, hard to communicate and understand them, as well as they sound just like a robot, no matter what you tell them.
Very upset, i bought 2 of these units, after the 1st. one i was told by Logic tech rep that it was a bad defective nit.
So i ordered another, and what would you know, this one didn't work as well.
Finally after hours, i was told that this unit will not work with lion.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 1100 Advanced Universal Remote:
The Harmony 1100 replaces my Philips RC9800i and has proven to be considerably more flexible to set up and operate. Specifically, I found the 1100 to be extremely user friendly with very easy programability. The screen is bright, text very readible, and icons colorful. Big advantage is the ability to download firmware and system software without losing your previous activities and device setups. So far, I would highly recommend the Logitech Harmony 1100 remote.

The product is a great one, however, if you plan to use it with Vizio TV dont buy it.....:
Vizio TV doesnt have a command to move directly to AV1 or AV2...so, if you have to switch between for example HDMI1 to AV1 you will not be able to do it (success rate is ~50%)... the reason is: the existing vizio comant of moving to AV1 or AV2 input is rotating beween AV1 and AV2 for example: if you turned the TV of and the AV channel was set to AV1, next time once the Harmony will send the commant to move to AV1...it will change to AV2... etc.
I think that Harmony should conatct Vizio manifucture and resolve this issue.

This is the second logitech remote we have purchased. The first one was great for a year and then it would not sit or charge properly on the charger. We then purchased the updated version, the 1100 logitech. Within the first week we begin to have the same issues as we had experienced with the previous remote. Needless to say it is just sitting idle and we manually change or use the supplied with cable remote....what a waste of dollars... twice. Shame on us. So much for advanced as a remote is only as good as the charger. Reason for 2nd purchase: thinking it was the battery I called the [...] about a replacement battery, he laughed and said it would do no good others have tried...we would have to get to get the battery through the company or replace the remote. hmmmm sound familiar to anyone else?

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 1100 Advanced Universal Remote:
I got this remote mainly because my hands are partially paralyzed and the remotes were a problem for me. With the Harmony 1100, I have combined 4 remotes into one with one touch for functions that formerly required up to 4 remotes. Programming was a snap using the included s/w plus the Logitech web site.

The remote controls 8 diferent devices I have. The customer support is great and they helped me find a command set for my Oppo HDMI switch. I love the programming interface as it is very easy to use for basic things which as a beginner is very easy to program. Programming activity macros are also very easy. I have owned mine for about a year

I am somewhat intimitated by electronics,so was a little scared to program this unit. But the setup {which is done on the computer) was an absolute breeze!!!!And it worked the 1st time and have had zero issues with this unit. The best thing is I can get rid of the 4 remotes on my coffee table!! The only reason I didnt give this 5 stars is because you sometimes have to use 2 hands to use it....

If you've put off buying this because you were
a bit hesitant in setting it up there is nothing to
worry about. The software guided the set up
effortlessly just as in all of my other logitech purchases.
We are very pleased so far and have the coolest
remote going. My kids love it.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 1100 Advanced Universal Remote:
I read the reviews on this remote and decided to buy it in spite of a few bad reviews by unhappy users. I'm glad I did. This remote performs outstandingly well with my setup. Programming was relatively easy and painless. I ended up having to reprogram it when I switched from Cable to direct tv and had a few problems that boiled down to me not following the directions and paying attention. I think it took about 20 minutes. The touch screen is great, the devices I control are only my Samsung 3d LED, a Samsung 3d BR player and my Onkyo reciever (for now). Everything is in sync and if a problem arises the remote itself will guide you through trouble shooting and the installed computer program on my pc it comes with will take it further into diagnostics step by step if needed. No regrets, a great product, and it looks high speed too if you're keeping up with the Jone's!

Purchased to control standar Home Entertainment system (TV, FIOS, Receiver, DVD, Apple TV).
GREAT: It looks great.
BAD: It is super slow (latencies beyond reason), Doesn't auto config for the standard FIOS box (lame) or Apple TV, has and inherent bug that causes the manual digit entries on FIOS box to duplicate (example: 6 = 66), so no luck punching in your channel, multiple failures when using software on MAC computer as well.
Botton line... After over 10 hours of programing over and over, speaking with tech-line, the unit does work... it just works poorly and with bugs. I own 2 other Logitech remotes and they work much better than this real cool looking one that costs more. Now I know why remotes that look like this one cost closer to $1000... it's because they have to.

As usual, Logitech falls just short of transference of all remote functionalities, and makes programming a 60's experience. Eventually, they will learn or at least hire some young people who are accustomed to the desired remote programming and function controls. If not, then i guess all the Help notes will be in Chinese.
