Specifically designed for digital SLR cameras equipped with APS-C size image sensors, the Sigma 10mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM Fisheye Lens is a lens that captures a rectangular 180° view in all directions (when mounted on Sony SLR camera). The diagonal field of view of this fisheye lens produces striking images with exaggerated perspective and distortion.
The minimum focusing distance of 5.3" (13.5cm) and maximum magnification 1:3.3 allows subjects to be as close as 0.7" (1.8cm) from the lens' front element. This close focusing capability allows close-up photography and also it is possible to make use of large depth of field that covers a wide range of subjects. Even the most familiar and mundane of subjects can be portrayed with startlingly fresh new expressions through exaggerated perspectives and unusual distortion effects. Well suited for academic and technical measurements such as solid angle measurements, cloud cover measurements & virtual reality.
DC lenses are exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras. The image circle (rear of lens) is made to match the smaller dimensions used for the image sensor on digital cameras. As a result, these lenses are also more compact and lightweight, and are better matched to digital SLR cameras.
Note! Not compatible with Minolta 35mm film SLR cameras, or for "full-frame" digital cameras (e.g. A900)

Comments about Sigma 10mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM Fisheye Lens for Sony Alpha Camera:
A great lens to exaggerate the landscape or to duplicate the near far David Muench photograph.
Also good for opening up small spaces. Not for portraiture unless your intent is to exaggerate
the face or body parts.

I have only had this lens for a couple of weeks now and I love it!! I was surprised how sharp the images are. Even at f/2.8 the images are very sharp. The construction of the lens is of high quality and durable. I can't wait to use this lens in Tahoe! This lens is fun and creative...I know I will get a lot of use out of this lens.

Comments about Sigma 10mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM Fisheye Lens for Sony Alpha Camera:
What a great lens...this lens far exceeded my expectations. I own three other Sigma lenses 105mm f/2.8, 30mm f/1.4, 18-50mm f/2.8 (that I'm not crazy about) so I wasn't sure what to expect with this lens. WOW!! It's awesome. I love the true 180 degrees I get on my Sony A580. This lens is a blast to shoot with too. Even at f/2.8 the images are super sharp, I expected some softening at 2.8 but the images are tack sharp!! Great lens...I'm a concert photographer and I can't wait to see what I can do with this lens in that setting!!

I use this lens in architecture photo and I find it really great as it is possible to take otherwise impossible images indoor and images with spectacular distortion of the spaces outdoor. It is provided with a nice case and a solid lens cap.
