Panasonic's SDR-H80 60GB Standard Definition Camcorder is an entry-level option for the budget-minded. This lightweight camera features hybrid recording to both the 60GB hard disk drive and to removable SD/SDHC memory cards, while the included VideoCam software ensures easy uploading to YouTube.
If you're intimidated by menus and numerous functions, the Intelligent Auto (iA) mode keeps things simple. iA mode automatically adjusts the H80's settings depending on the scene, allowing features like Face Detection and Scene Detection to take over, making sure you get the best shot possible.
The SDR-H80 also boasts Panasonic's Optical 70x Ultra Zoom lens for zooming in on far off subjects with little to no loss in image quality. Advanced O.I.S., another useful tool, corrects for blur caused by motion and hand shake.

This camera is a simple to use, good quality image maker with a decent zoom lens. It was purchased for a specifice task: to document the progress of students learning to ride horses. The camera can follow the action with help from image stabilization, record onto SD cards, and be played back on a computer by the students without making DVDs, downloading, or any inconvenience. It will do well for family events, parties, and similar situations. It is a good value for the money. It is NOT for the serious video maker, or those who demand HD. It's not fancy: it is what it is.

I have Sony DCR SR 47 as well as this one, but Sony has stopped this product, hence I would say, SDR H80 is best at this price range.
The great things are mainly, 60GB HDD storage, long zoom lence, and descent battery life.
The problem is, the image quality is not so exciting. but, you cant expect HD quality with normal camera. It has an image stabilization problem, and worst thing is the stills. DO not use this camera for still photographs.
Compared to SONY DCR SR 47, its almost same, it doesnt have touch screen which doesnt matter much.

Comments about Panasonic SDR-H80 60GB Standard Definition Camcorder (Silver):
I bought SILVER ONE to capture my kids moments at the beach and other occassions. The quality was good and easy to operate. The internal storage was 60GB that is more than enough for couple of shoot outs. The videos and pics were just copy and paste operation from handycam to the computer harddisk. The only thing lacking was no inbuilt light like Sony HandyCam to switch on during night. Rest all is great for the price and branded product. I watched other items and could not get anycheaper than this one with all the features. The optical zoom and digital zoom were great to view far off objects. The photos did not seem to be clear but I don't usse it as I have digital camera.Should have 3.1 MP minimum for photo quality.

SDR-H80 60GB Standard Definition Camcorder is very compact to handle and record. The quality is very good during shooting with zoom and without zoom. The optical zoom of 70X makes it very convenient to shoot long distance views. The sound quality during recording too is very impressive. The inbuilt hard drive makes it easy to store and download the pictures.Overall the camcorder is worth purchasing by all means.
