Comments about Canon FS21 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder:
We're using this video camera to record training sessions and instructional videos. The camera is small and very portable which is nice when traveling. It picks up sound rather well and with the mic input gives us some flexiblity to add a wireless lapel mic. Plenty of storage if you buy the 32GB card to go in it. Video quality on LP is good enough for view via computer or internet. The software that comes with the camcorder isn't wonderful, but mostly functional. We've had some quirks getting the videos downloaded when stored on the card. Overall, however, this is a good little camera for the price.

For anyone thinking about buying this camera:
I love it, I've been looking at cameras for a while and I finally bought this one. I looked at so many cameras - sonys, panasonics, canons, jvc, etc. and I compared them right next to each other - their zoom, how easy they were to use, and the quality of video - and this one was my favorite. I'm a multimedia production major so I wanted something that will last me a while that I could use for all of my projects and this one is perfect. I just wish canon made them in different colors!

Comments about Canon FS21 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder:
Bought this to record church video. Was unable to get ANY good video from it. The video format (.mod)is restrictive and you have to use the proprietary software included to access footage. All video taken had horrible degradation. Could not use any footage after trying for 3 months in various settings.
The audio/microphone input is a plus as it was possible to connect an audio output from mixer to camera.
Very disappointing and useless performance overall.

Comments about Canon FS21 Dual Flash Memory Camcorder:
Pros: Compact design, no need for tapes, microphone input
Cons: Low quality video indoors, no headphone out, weird file type, easily irritated CCD
This is a great idea camera, a cheap camera that doesn't need tapes but has some great features like a manual focus mode and a microphone input. But the bad CCD and the lack of a headphone out kind of ruin it. The footage inside is horrible, the CCD needs almost 1000w of light before it doesn't strain itself, and not being able to hear the audio from your mic just doesn't make much sense. I was planning on working with this camera until i could afford a nicer one, but I already want to get rid of it and I've only had it for a month.
Overall: I would not buy this camera again for any purpose. It seems that low end SD cameras are of worse quality then they used to be, so save up another $200 and get an HD with a CMOS or 3 CCD's.
