The Porta Brace AO-1XB Audio Organizer Case (Black) is a 1000 denier Cordura nylon case with a rigid plastic frame and interior padding in the main section and pocket. It is designed to carry a mixer, wireless microphones, transmitters, batteries, cables, connectors, and other equipment. The case is completely reversible so the mixer can be positioned anywhere and the hinged top can be removed and positioned front to back. There are zip-off side panels for cable entry; it moves the entry either closer or further away. The case has cable ports on each side so cables can be routed into all exterior pockets for snag free wiring versatility.
The AO-1XB has a receiver/transmitter pocket on each side of the case, a microphone power supply pocket, and a padded main outside pocket, which is sewn in to prevent sagging. The case is transported by suede leather-covered carry handles or an HB-40a suede-leather-covered, adjustable, removable shoulder strap. It has a "D" rings for attaching an optional audio harness and a Slip-Not anti-skid base.

When I decided to buy my own audio package six years ago, I started with the Petrol PEG 2, I soon outgrew that and bought a PEG 3. Both bags had zipper problems. The 3 model had a carbon fiber support rod poke through the fabric and in turn, started poking me! I decided to scale down my package and in turn, needed a small to medium sized bag. I decided to try Porta Brace.
They have been an industry icon for decades.
I like the versatility of the AO 1XB, especially the changeable sides.
It is well made, and I don't think I'll encounter the zipper issues I had with the Petrol bags. Plus, Porta Brace is American owned and made! Which is literally next to impossible to find in our industry any more.
I liked the black color option, nothing against standard Porta Brace Blue,
but let's face it; black is more majestic:)
I have a Sound Devices 442 mixer, and 4 lectrosonics 411s in the bag.
The only thing I wish Porta Brace designers would do is offer more "pic points" for attaching your harness. It took me a couple of hours to balance my Porta Brace V series Harness properly because of the way the rings are positioned on the bag. But, once I had the harness dialed in, the bag was comfortable and everything was easy to access.
