Sony's entry-level HDR-XR100 80GB High Definition Handycam Camcorder offers up true 1080 x 1920 high definition recording and the convenience of internal media, at an affordable price. The camera's hard disk drive holds almost 32 hours of HD video and 4MP still images, while optional Memory Stick Duo media provides additional storage.

Helping you to capture all that beautiful footage would be the job of 1/5" Exmor CMOS sensor and BIONZ image processor, along with the 10x optical zoom and a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens. The 2.7" wide touch panel LCD with 270° of rotation helps you compose accurate shots and makes for easier viewing upon playback. In addition, the HDR-XR100 also boasts other user-friendly features like Face Detection and Smile Shutter technology that ensure everyone in the frame looks their best.

• Record to the 80GB Hard Disk Drive: Record nearly 32 hours of true, 1920 x 1080 HD video and 4MP stills to the DCR-XR100's 80GB HDD. In the event that you drop the camera, Sony's "HDD Smart Protection" prevents recorded video and stills from being lost.

• 1/5" Exmor CMOS Sensor: Sony's 1/5" Exmor CMOS sensor with ClearVid array captures brilliant 2.3MP videos and 4MP stills. The BIONZ image processor works together with the sensor to reduce image noise and improve response time.

• Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens with 10x Optical Zoom: The professional quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens features precision ground optics for sharp, true-to-life image capture. The 10x optical zoom captures far off subjects with no loss in image quality.

• 2.7" Wide Touch Panel LCD: The generous 2.7" LCD gives you an accurate display on which to compose and playback your shots, while also providing an intuitive surface to navigate menus and other functions. The 270° rotation of the screen helps capture hard-to-get shots and aids in viewing upon playback.

• 4MP Stills: Capture 4MP digital stills with the HDR-XR100. You can also simultaneously record video and capture 2.3MP stills with the camera's Dual Record mode.
