Comments about NEC MultiSync 2690WUXi2 25.5" Widescreen LCD Display:
I got this monitor to use as a reference monitor for photo editing in Lightroom. The colors render very accurately and the blacks are true. If you are an imaging professional, you probably want to invest in the NEC calibration package, an expensive but necessary addition if you need that level of accuracy.
The monitor has 3 inputs (VGA/DVI-I/DVI-D), which helps when it's used on multiple systems, something some of its competitors fall short on at this price point.
If you want a cheap data-grade widescreen monitor to surf the web and casually look at lo-res jpegs, this monitor probably isn't for you. But if you need a quality widescreen monitor to accurately reproduce hi-resolution images as well as the ability to interface to multiple CPUs, this monitor is the one to invest in.

Comments about NEC MultiSync 2690WUXi2 25.5" Widescreen LCD Display:
I use this screen with a MAC tower for graphics.
More precision than the Apple Cinema Screen:
Real Color Calibration capabilities, screen physically moves up and down and all around. There is no glare on it like the cinema screen has, and the LEDs are even. For the same price, I trust it more. I have only had it for a week but I am happy with it thusfar.

Comments about NEC MultiSync 2690WUXi2 25.5" Widescreen LCD Display:
The bottom line is this is a professional grade monitor. You can read many technical details in the other reviews. I'm not a technical kind of person. I'm concerned with the final result. You simply will not go wrong with this monitor.I get consistent, spot on, results every time I use it. That is important when you are delivering a $1,200 canvas portrait to a client! It is easy to set up, easy to calibrate, and easy to use. What more could you want in a monitor. I have owned mine now for about a year with no issues or complaints. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the brightness level. It is a tad too high and cannot be lowered to what I feel is the optimal level. I have learned to live with it without any ill effects though.

This is my second NEC MultiSync 2690WUXi2... First one is going strong and on another custom-built system. I'll simply echo the positive notes you're reading in the reviews... This is a great monitor.

Comments about NEC MultiSync 2690WUXi2 25.5" Widescreen LCD Display:
The reason I purchased this monitor is to use it for photo editing so that image on the screen will closely match the print. Setup was easy and quick. Monitor controls are very easy to use.
Colors are truly brilliant on that monitor. It is my first wide color gamut monitor and for the first time I saw the difference in image colors when I converted the image from Adobe RGB to sRGB color profile in PS. All my previous monitors were not able to display these subtle differences in color.
For serious photo editing work I would strongly recommend getting NEC SpectraView 2 bundle (software and sensor). It will adjust your monitor gamma, white point, correction curves and brightness. Factory settings were OK, but the images look definitely better after installing SpectraView2 and calibrating the monitor.
Viewing angles are great, the only thing I did not like is slight white glow in black areas when you are looking at the monitor at the angle. This leads to slight change of luminance in areas on the images filled with very dark pixels. I read on Internet that this is because NEC did not use polarizer filter on this model (with index 2). This is the only reason I give this monitor solid 4 stars instead of 5
Overall I am really satisfied with my purchase.

I use the monitor mainly for processing photographs with Lightroom. Color is excellent and the screen real estate (I upgraded from an 19" screen) is more useful than I had imagined. No problems so far.

This is the best LCD I've ever owned and also the most expensive I've ever bought. All I can say is it's worth every dollar. Pity the delivery is so expensive to Australia, otherwise, it would be a perfect buy. You folks in the US are so lucky!

Comments about NEC MultiSync 2690WUXi2 25.5" Widescreen LCD Display:
This monitor is a real eye opener. The images are crisp, clean, and vivid. The monitor was very easy to set up and run. It is also easy to calibrate. I process thousands of photos. My prints now closely duplicate the images on the screen. That's what I was looking for, in addition to being able to read the fine print on the screen. No negatives.

Comments about NEC MultiSync 2690WUXi2 25.5" Widescreen LCD Display:
While this monitor isn't exactly cheap, it's really worth every penny if you care for its qualities. I had color accuracy problems with my previous screen and decided to get a new monitor. At first I considered the Dell 2408WFP, but then the firmware issue and reports on quality deviations made me reconsider. Not only is the 2690WUXi2 a wide gamut display, it also provides a very homogeneous output over the entire screen. Together with the SpectraView II software and color sensor I can hardware calibrate my screen. This means that the RGB color output is not adjusted via software within the graphics card, but within the monitor itself. The result is just amazing - the monitor produces consistent and accurate colors. I can also produce different calibrations targets, for example sRGB for web applications, and AdobeRGB to edit photos for print. Loading a different calibration using the SpectraView application takes only a few seconds. Another nice feature of the NEC 2690 is that I can lock the screen controls via software so that my kids or other people can't screw up my calibration settings (I had that before and it can be a real pain in the neck). Other features like the adjustable color and brightness of the power LED are maybe gimmicks, but I actually use it to reduce the LED's brightness.
If you are looking for a top screen for photo editing and graphics, you won't be disappointed.

Comments about NEC MultiSync 2690WUXi2 25.5" Widescreen LCD Display:
Not top of the line, but it'll do for the image processing I need. The green to pink tint mentioned in other reviews is there on the far edges, very faintly, negligible really. Color is accurate in the middle two thirds and that is enough for detail work where accuracy is a concern... I only use the full screen when working on aspects that have nothing to do with color.

Comments about NEC MultiSync 2690WUXi2 25.5" Widescreen LCD Display:
I got this monitor because my $300 Dell LCD was driving me crazy by going out of gamut every week or so, giving me no confidence in what I was seeing. I bought this because other reviews here and places like [@] said it was excellent. I've had the monitor for 3 weeks and the color is exquisite right out of the box. Calibrating it with my Spyder 3 Elite was as easy as could be. Since I'm on a Mac, the included software does not work for me, but it didn't matter. The monitor is very bright, so much so that I had to turn it down to about 85% for when I'm editing images. The anti-glare hood that I bought is very nice as well and really works to remove any glare or color cast from other lights. I am so happy with this monitor. It was really worth the money to be confident in what I a seeing vs. what will be printed. By adding the color profiles of the printing services (eg, Mpix or the printers used by SmugMug). I can now be confident with a color-managed digital image workflow.

I got this monitor mostly for uses in processing my photos to the printer. I found that this monitor calibrated easily and the color on my photos from the printer matched the screen view almost 100 percent. I was a little apprehensive about the price but after see how well this monitor worked for me I quite pleased with it's performance.
