The Power Supply for d2 Hard Drive from LaCie is an AC power supply for select LaCie d2 hard drives, capable of delivering 57W of energy. It is compatible with 110V and 220V AC voltage systems, and can deliver 12V (3A) or 5V (4.2A) of DC power to devices via a 4-pin connection.

I spoke with a tech at LaCie about my ailing hard drive which would not mount. He told me to order a new power supply and that would likely do the trick. A LaCie rep told me that LaCie has improved the quality of their power supplies, which have been a matter of complaint in the past. While my hard drive mounted with the new power supply, unfortunately it was the hard drive itself that was at fault. So I'd have to say that the new power supply did its job just fine, but was not what I needed to solve my problem.

The reason I'm giving these 2 stars is because an engineer at LaCie admitted that these power supplies tend to have a high failure rate. I've purchased 5 of them over the past 3 years. 4 have failed. Each of these supplies was used in different locations, so it's not an incident isolated to one location.
I've been very lucky that my Bigger Disk has survived through all the power supply failures, but it's always been a scare when the drive doesn't boot due to the supplies.

My LaCie Mini Firewire Drive/Hub failed to mount on my Mac Mini after about 3 years of use. After a little digging online, my best guess was that the power supply failed and needed to be replaced. I crossed my fingers and bought the power supply in hopes of fixing my drive and not having to go through the costs of data recovery. Thankfully, the new power cord fixed everything and all is working flawlessly.

This model of Lacie HDs has a real problem with the power supply. Many people I know and others who have already commented on this online have had the same problem as me - the capacitors blow and the unit becomes unreliable (and usually starts to produce a 'hissing' sound)...... fortunately they are readily available and not too expensive (although I'll seriously think about putting my HD into retirement if the charger I just bought packs it in anytime soon.

I purchase 2 of this power supply for Lacie hard drives, one to have it as a backup and the other to used regularly. In the area where I live there are several thunderstorms and even with power protection some power adaptors receive high current and voltages. As soon as I connect it the hard drive start working again. I definitively will recommend to purchase one as replacement/backup for your lacie hard drive

When I turned on my LaCie drive and it didn't appear on my desktop, my heart sank. The drive sounded like it wasn't spinning up fully, so I looked into replacing the power supply instead of having it repaired. After reading customer comments on the B&W web page I went ahead and ordered one.[...] the drive powered right up, and my problem was solved for less than[$] What a relief!
