I'm an amateur. I just needed something for a short vacation and something that could also take stills. I got exactly what I needed. If anything, the capabilities are beyond my initial understanding and I should spend more time reading the manual. The picture quality is exceptionally good, to my untrained eye. The manual is exceptionally weak in explaining features and how to use capabilities. Overall, very pleased.

I got a great deal on this, and it's performed really well thus far. The picture is a little noisy in low light, but I wasn't expecting anything different at this price point and knew about the camera's performance going in. It's very small, which I like. I like being able to pack up my DSLR and this camera all in one medium size bag. All in all, it's a great buy.

The image quality of this camcorder is amazing. I saw my first video on my HDTV and the image was great. The software is easy to use and the camcorder is not complicated to operate. It's a bit umcomfortable to hold on my hand.

I purchased this product to use for home use. I began shooting some SD footage and HD footage, just so that I had some footage to play with. I quickly learned that this camera and Macs to dont get along with the HD files. The instruction manual that came with the camera had maybe 3 sentences on how to use with a Mac - needless to say this didn't help. So I did a lot of research on the internet, only to find out that the file format really doesn't work easily with Macs unless you run through a converter. In the end I'm returning this product.

Camera was ready to go right out of the box. Good picture quality and decent sound. The software loaded quickly and easily but the editing process is too complicated and heavy handed.

I use the camera most weekends for my sport which is skydiving . i found the footage to be grest and the light weight of the product i cant even feel that it is strapped to my helmet.The still pictures you can pull of the camera are also of top quality The only thing i dont like is that you cant remove the camera strap.And at low light the quality is not that good

Decided on this model after reading the reviews left my other owners. Nice camcorder, no problems with it. One word of advice, purchase additional memory and battery. Recording in high definition drains the battery and fills up the memory fast.

This is my first High Definition camcorder, and i reviewed reviews and camera's forever before deciding to go with this one. I have been very happy with it so far, and I have had it for about a month. My friends and family I have shown it to have been very impressed as well. As with any non-professional camcorder, it does get grainy in low light conditions, even inside your house, depending on how well lit your room is. If its well lit, then it looks pretty good. Outside in the daylight, it is AMAZING! Picture is definitely 1080p quality. If you have a halfway steady hand, your shots will look great. You can get so close to objects and still get a crystal clear picture it is crazy. I can practically touch the lens to something and still get a clear shot. Seriously. The zoom is great. There is no external mic jack so your audio is not going to be amazing but its definitely good enough for just making home movies and stuff. It is definitely very small and light weight. Boots up very fast. Uses AVCHD recording format for HD video, and MP4 for recording in standard def. The included software will convert your high def into WMV or MP4 if you want. The only major downside to this camera is the battery. It does not last long at all. So you definitely need to get a longer lasting battery. The 4MP still camera does a decent job of taking still pictures as well. If you want to hook this up directly to your high def TV and and get the full 1080p quality, you have to buy a separate mini-regular HDMI cord. The camera only comes with a component cord. Overall, for the price of this camera, its well worth it. Unless you want to spend $1000, this is your best high def camcorder for the money! Even the professional reviews will tell you that.

I record my classes, record outdoor trips.

It has great video quality.It is Tiny and Ultralight, I didn't expect that to be that small, but it is not a problem. No external Microphone option but it worth the price.

I stuck with Sony after 6 years of solid use of my Sony Digital 8 camcorder. Over that time period it has seen over 350 hockey games and 50 softball games to start.
This new CX-100 has been easy to get started right out of the box. The touch screen function is very easy to use. The edit features we have played with and seem to be very straight forward and easy to pick up on. The video output has been fantastic! The HD on this output with the HDMI cable is awesome.
The only thing that we had to get used to was the smaller size as compared to our last one.
The only slight downside that we have seen is the battery life. We will be looking at getting the 2x battery for this camcorder.

I use this camera to record skydiving and it is a durable camera that provides a great picture. Would be nice if it had a infrared remote but overall very nice.
