I bought this camera for my wife. She wanted something small and easy to use to video our new baby. I was very surprised at how well this camera worked. I have used a lot of high end cameras and was not expecting much from this low end unit but the operation and quality is exceptional for the price. It is also very small, about the size of my hand, and has a great steady shot funtion. Overall I am very pleased and would recommend this product for those who are looking for something easy and small to use.

The Sony handycam camcorder DCR SX41 was smaller than I was expecting -- not a bad thing, just a surprise. The touchscreen is a neat feature. Overall, easy to use and download pictures; quality of image and sound were OK; instructions in the manual were hard to follow, and information on editing the videos is very sketchy, even when you go on line (turns out that the editing software included is pretty worthless, but Windows Movie Maker did the job for me). Onscreen icons are far from intuitive; so it took some trial and error to learn to use it. The strap you put your hand thru didn't adjust quite small enough to provide my smallish hands with a firm grip. All that said, I am happy with the camcorder, and after a week of using it, have mastered what I need to do to make a decent home movie.

I use this for family pics and motorsports: I drive Audis and VWs on-track! For family shots, it is easy to use, nearly instant-on, and the image stabilization is great. The sound quality at the track needs some learning by the user, and you just have to experiment with that. We still like the sound of that engine revving!
I expected battery-life to be short, but it was more than sufficient for a full day's track work of several 20m sessions. With Windows Movie Maker, it is as powerful as an enthusiast wants it to be.

What a great company first of all. I needed this for my son leaving for China. This was shipped the day after I purchased it and we received it in 2 days! Amazing product! My son started using it right away and it takes amazing videos. He needed something light weight for his travels but wanted something that took great videos with the ease of storage on a memory stick. We can't wait to get his videos from China online! I am still learing all about this camera but so far so good. I bought it to capture my 10month old baby's "1st". It is small and light weight. It is so compact that I put it in my diaper bag so that I can grab it quickly to catch a "1st". The power turns on as soon as you open the screen and is ready to record within seconds. The lens is opened with a button so no more messing around with a lens cap. The touch screen features are nice and easy to use and the quality seems to be really good. I have not yet tried to download anything onto the computer but it seems easy enough. I love this camera and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a light weight easy to use product. I love Sony products, I also have an outdated handycam and this is so much better. No more tapes and 1/4 of the weight.
