The DSC-H20 Cyber-shot Digital Camera from Sony is a compact digital camera with a powerful 10x zoom lens. Delivering a field of view equivalent to 38-380mm, the Zeiss lens retracts into the camera's body when it is not in use.
The innovative Intelligent Auto (iAuto) mode helps you to take clearer, sharper photographs. Optical SteadyShot image stabilization works to reduce camera blur caused by shaking hands. iAuto also leverages the camera's Intelligent Scene Recognition and Face Detection capabilities.
You'll be able to record 720p HD movies in MPEG-4 format. The camera can capture uninterrupted clips of up to 29 minutes in length, approximately 2GB in size. You'll be able to play this clips on your TV via the camera's 1080i output.

Surprisingly Good

After several years of using digital SLRs, I'm usually very skeptical of "compacts" or "point-and-shoot" cameras. Most of them are too automatic for my tastes.
But this Sony has a surprising amount of customization available, and quite a few manual controls, especially in Manual and Program modes.
Even when using full auto-settings, the camera focused quickly, taking a shot with little of the usual delay.
And I didn't believe the "smile detection" would be effective until I actually tried it. Wow. This camera takes compacts to another level.

Still a good choice in this price level

I have been using Sony H10 from long time and H20 I bought for my cousin. The camera takes really good pictures with great colors and fineness. Even though I am not a pro, the pictures are so good that every picture is looks like captured from some high end camera. Best is picture taken in ISO mode in low light. the clarity and fineness is just amazing.

I am an amateur photographer and was looking to replace my 3 year old Fuji F11. I was happy with the Fuji's outside pictures, but the indoor shots were usually grainy and underexposed. As the mom of 2 active children, I wanted a camera I could just set to "auto" and not have to worry about proper ISO settings, etc. After some research and great advice, I bought the Sony DSC-H20 and I am thrilled with my purchase! The Intelligent Auto mode is amazing. I have been purposely trying to create challenging conditions and the auto mode correctly adjusts every time! The pictures come out so clear -- even indoors with flash! So many cool features like the smile detector and anti-blink setting. No more lost memories for me! I recommend purchasing the 4 GB memory stick pro duo (mark 2) media to go with it. It will hold approx. 800 images at 10 MP's.

I took this camera to the Galapagos. I wanted something easy to use, with a good lens, stability control and a decent zoom to focus in on wildlife. I liked that I could adapt the camera to the situation I was in fairly easily (landscape versus close-ups for example). The LCD is excellent, but the fact that I was often in bright bright sunlight made me really appreciate the beep when the auto focus set. My main complaint was that it was sometimes a little slow for my purposes (I missed a few birds).

We bought this camera because it came so highly praised. And after using it, I have to agree with all the reviews out there. Bag for the buck this is the best video equipped camera on the market.
Pros: Very easy to use. Great LCD display.
Cons: Would be nice in the future models to allow you to remove the lens cap after turning it on instead of having to remove the cap and then restart it.

this is my 2nd digital camera, im not a pro or even close but it dosn't matter anyone can operate this camera. the 200 + pics i have taken turned out excellent. no more blury pics like i used to get from my old cam. the zoom works far and clear and the vidieo is great. I wish a HDMI cable was included thought so I could view in hi def. the in camera slide show with music is really cool. any way i really like this camera and would recommend it to anyone.

The camera for some ridiculous reason is always compared as a budget superzoom against low end models compared to the Panasonic ZS3/ZS1 (TZ67) or the Canon SX200.
The truth is that the camera has a slightly larger sensor than the others and it shows as it performs better at high ISO than the Panasonic.
The video is 720P HD and again it performs better than the Panasonic under low light conditions, and the overall grainy-ness is much less!
One limiting factor is that its not a true wide angle at 38mm, which can limit its use indoors, and though it compensates with a longer telephoto this might be restrictive to some, but I feel a lot can live with the 38mm!!
The biggest problem it has as a family cam is that it has a very long flash recycle time, mainly due to the fact that its flash is very powerful for a compact (too powerful for close ups in some cases), and it has delay in the shutter lag that really irritates you when taking photos of moving kids, etc. Shame since the picture quality is GREAT when you get the photos.

Since my fiance and I both lost our digital cameras over christmas, we needed a new camera we could both use that wasn't too expensive until we can afford to replace both. This camera has far exceeded expectations. It's so much nicer than either of the digital cameras we had before. It takes pictures really quickly. Last week we wanted to take pictures of our dog playing in the snow, and we were able to get a bunch of shots off in a short period of time - hardly any delay - and the photo quality is outstanding.

I use the camera for family photos, but also for references for paintings. It takes good photos, but it doesn't take fast pictures. I could not get the camera to recognize the mountains outside my window. It focused only on the branches, even when I switched it to 'mountain' on the camera. I do think I like the photo quality of my Lumix better, but the action photos are great with this camera, great for kids in movement! It does have some features that the Lumix did not have that I like...so far still getting to know my new camera.
