The Bushnell Legend 1200 ARC Laser Rangefinder is a sophisticated and compact monocular rangefinder that's got plenty of intelligence to help hunters and shooters use slope and bullet drop factors to accurately interpret estimated range distances. Bushnell has been at the science of slope compensation for some time now and it shows in the Legend 1200 ARC.
Beyond being a premium waterproof and fogproof 6x23 monocular, the 1200 has fully multicoated optics with Bushnell's RainGuard HD external coatings. The upper finish really grabs your hand or glove.
But the star of the show is the Legend's Variable Sight-In feature, or VSI for short. VSI allows the user to select sight-in distances of 100,150, 200, or 300 yards as they prefer, and shows holdover distances either in inches or in MOA (minutes of angle). Best of all, the internal slope sensor uses these choices based on an ability to sense slopes of ±90° with ±1° accuracy, which is unheard of in a consumer's instrument until now.Note! Not legal for tournament play as defined by the USGA Rules of Golf.

Comments about Bushnell Legend 1200 ARC Laser Rangefinder (Black):
This rangefinder is good, (seems) dependable, lightweight, compact.
What I like about it: ability to measure angle to the target (beside just the distance), multiple modes (rifle and bow), ability to work through the brush. And of course being waterproof and fog-proof counts.
What I don't like about it: there is a small number of rifle loads that this rangefinder "knows" about. Most of them are some kinds of 30-06. Since my caliber is different - this feature (ability to compute the bullet drop) is of no use to me. I'd also prefer if it could measure longer distances. And I'd like a way to manually turn it off to save the battery.
I've had it only for a short time - can't tell how reliable it is yet.

Comments about Bushnell Legend 1200 ARC Laser Rangefinder (Black):
After lots of research and agonizing (and against my gut feeling), I purchased the Bushnell Legend 1200 ARC. When it arrived at my door, the day before my vacation, I was very excited. That excitement was doused as soon as I started setting up the unit for use.I was in the menu to set up my sight-in distance when I noticed that the unit did not display digits after 99. This led me to look closely at the rest of the LCD display and I discovered that every single display parameter looked as if it were failing. It looked like paint looks when it's chipping off a house. The line creating the circle reticule had an uneven thickness and was a little lopsided.Still, I wanted to make sure I wasn't just being crazy or picky (although for [$], I should be able to be both). I took it outside and it worked up to 99 yards. After that, the display did not work. I could tell something was trying to show up in the 100's place mark, but I couldn't tell if the number was a 1,2,3,4, etc. It was ranging, but I couldn't read the number. The same feature failed past 999 yards. I could see that it wanted to display a 1 in the 1,000's place, but it was too faint to read.Still, I continued to test the unit while on vacation since I didn't have time to send it back. It was not problem free. Our hotel had a large 3-tiered retaining wall. The Bushnell ranged the closest wall (the bottom) at 34 yards. It ranged the second wall at 29 yards, and then ranged the third wall at 34 yards. I moved to different spots along the wall, I shot at different angles (including above the wall from a balcony), but for some reason it never could range the wall properly, always reading that the second wall was closer than the first, and equal distant to the farthest wall. Strange. The unit also had trouble ranging large trees after 450 (from what I could tell with the broken display) yards, even though it states that it will range them to 800 yards. I tested this on 3 different days with the same result. I had to shoot a tree a couple of times and hold the button for 2-3 seconds to get a reading. It had no problem ranging buildings, but that's worthless when you're shooting. The optics were clear enough and were distortion free. Even on a sunny day, though, they seemed a little grainy.Okay, that's the unit, I'd give it 1/2 star. The checkered rubber grip on the top is nice.I called Bushnell's customer service, which was promised to be "prompt and polite" per their website. I got a representative after a couple of minutes on hold and briefly explained that the LCD was broken right out of the box. She quickly replied, "And what do you expect MEEE to do about it? You need to take it back to where you bought it." I said that I bought it online, and that if I had to ship it, I might as well ship it to Bushnell for warranty work (I was being nice. I understand that X percentage of units will fail in production, and that I got one of those. That's okay. Bushnell should be glad for the opportunity to look at a bad unit for further improvement). She told me again that I should send it back to BHPhoto and that Bushnell wouldn't be able to return it in less than 30 days. At that point I just asked to talk to somebody else.I waited for nearly 16 minutes on hold before a Distributor Supervisor picked up. I again explained my situation, and he told me to send it back to the retailer. I told him that BHPhoto had done its job, sent me the product, and that they shouldn't be penalized through additional shipping costs for Bushnell's broken product. Eventually he took my information and sent me a UPS label to send the unit to Bushnell.I let the issue settle overnight and decided to return the unit for a refund. I used the money to buy a Leupold RX-750. I decided that I didn't want to own a poor product from a company with terrible customer service. This Bushnell is the first product of any brand I have ever purchased that has been broken right out of the box. Bushnell would not take responsibility for it until I basically badgered them into taking it. Why would I ever give them business again? The Good:-Lots of features for the price-Good rubber grip on top of unit-I now know that the two scopes I'm buying this week should not be BushnellThe Bad:-Broken out of box-Poor range finding performance (doesn't meet promises)-Long acquisition time-Terrible LCD (extremely poor quality)-LCD display looks childish compared to Leupold-Average fit and finish-Grainy optics-Magnetic clasp on carry case doesn't stay shut-HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICEBuy a Bushnell and pray that it doesn't break! If it does, you'll get a double-disappointment when you are forced to deal with their customer service.
