The XP308i from Samson is a compact and portable PA system that includes two 2-way speakers and an 8-channel mixer. Designed with mobility in mind, all of the system components connect together into a single case for terrific portability.
Each of the speakers features an 8" woofer and a 1" titanium tweeter, housed inside a durable vented enclosure. The removable 8-channel mixer features a powerful and efficient 300W Class-D amplifier for powerful sound reproduction. It offers 4 mic/line inputs capable of delivering phantom power, as well as 2 stereo inputs. An integrated iPod dock lets you easily drop in an iPod for playing back pre-recorded material. Dual 3.5mm outputs provide convenient monitoring via headphones or additional speakers. RCA outputs let you connect additional speakers or a recorder.
Other useful features of the XP308i include separate bass and treble controls for each input, a music/speech switch for setting system EQ, and an internal effects processor, which can add digital reverb to any mic channel. A 6-segment LED meter with a limit indicator makes it easy to monitor levels at a glance.

Comments about Samson XP308i Portable iPod PA System:
We use this for presentations and activities in our community room.
Having the 8 audio hook ups is wonderful for when we host multiple-speakers for a conference/meeting, but the sound board is a bit advanced for a beginner user (technically challenged), even with the manual.
Other than that, we love the portability and ease of set-up (once you figure it out the first time). If you want a PA system for an easy mike or stereo system that sets up within 10 minutes (including speaker stands), this is what you want. We also like it that all the cables store inside the speakers.

Comments about Samson XP308i Portable iPod PA System:
This product is worth the price and more. I have used it for live functions outside and it has some power to it. I work for a major nation television news company and the sound that comes out of the speakers is just as good, if not even, with any of our speakers/monitors we have. There is enough room to play with the 8 inputs. Only drew back is there is only controls for the high and low freqs. But other then that's good product.

Comments about Samson XP308i Portable iPod PA System:
We purchased these to replace an aging and failing speaker systems at a summer youth camp. These speakers were phenominal! Our camp hosted approximately 175 campers and staff. These speakers were loud and clear enough for everyone to hear outdoors. We purchased speaker stands as well, and they were helpful to those who could not hear well who sat in the back. The mixer board is easy to use and provides plenty of inputs for CD players, laptop, and microphones. The iPod dock was very handy, and worked very well. The compactness of the system makes transportation very easy. It is important to note that the mixer board is actively cooled with a fan, so cleaning the dust out of the board is a must if this system is run outside for long periods of time. Overall, we are very pleased with this system, and we would definitely purchase it again!

We bring this self contained iPod soundsystem to an outdoor venue and drop it into action. Works to create an instant dance venue with plug and play speaker and iPod set up. Very easy and portable. Well conceived!

Comments about Samson XP308i Portable iPod PA System:
This PA worked right out of the box; the controls were easy to use; and the output was well-scaled to small/medium-size venues. Only one design-flaw: when the speakers are nested together for carrying and storage, the mixer remains exposed - and hence vulnerable - on the "outside." There's a cover for the pocket where the speaker-cables are stored; there should have been a similar cover to protect the mixer.

Comments about Samson XP308i Portable iPod PA System:
I use this system for a dixieland group. It has great sound and portability. The I-pod dock is awesome for between sets. This is the perfect system for smaller venues.
I looked into other brands, but this seemed to be the best design and the best bang for your buck.

Works great for cultural events across campus. Great sound and easy to transport and use. We often have events with 40-50 people although I think this system could handle much larger groups. Great portable pa system...it rocks!
No mic cable, but for the price, no complaints.

Comments about Samson XP308i Portable iPod PA System:
Samson continues to impress me. I ordered this little system hoping that it would be as impressive as other Samson products. It is! It has great sound that is clear, flexible and FULL. Other trustworthy brands always seemed a little "lightweight". I really like what this system offers. If you're looking for something compact, simple and quality for right around $500. I would highly recommend this. I will likely be buying another one for a similar application very soon.

Comments about Samson XP308i Portable iPod PA System:
An absolute steal at this price. Perfect for use as an ultra mobile DJ rig (or as backup) as well as for any/all general sound reinforcement applications. I purchased for use as a portable party rig and for use during NCAA tailgating (TV broadcast reinforcement). While it does not carry much of a low end (one should not expect), it does provide a good amount of punch for the average backyard event. On top of the aforementioned, the integrated iPod dock is a huge bonus eliminating erroneous cables and maintaining a full digital connection. The "only" thing I would change is the seat angle of the iPod dock in relation to the mixer. With a greater angle it would be much easier to review the iPod content without having to squat or elevate the mixer to a higher location.
If you are looking for a very capable, portable, compact, and rugged sound system at a huge value look no further (unless you want more punch then go for the XP308i's 500 Watt big brother).
