"Excelent tripod"
I'm using this tripod like professional videographer. This product is great, and very useful. He have very smoot movement. Is very simple to use and is lightweight.

The fluid head is great, but I'm giving it 2 stars because I purchased this tripod specifically for working outdoors in muddy conditions. The square tube legs are open at the bottom, so mud gets into the tube and you have to clean it out or it gums up the leg extension. The stops on the spreader controls came off on 2 out of 3 legs within the first few months. I hate the center column, and I agree with the other poster that the tightening screw for the quick release plate hits the camera, therefore making it tricky to tighten.
I have been very gentle with this tripod. Its predecessor was not an "all terrain" tripod but it stood up to years of abuse and it's still in fine condition, while this one that was supposed to be better suited to the conditions in which I shoot, is nearly inoperable, even with regular maintenance.

Comments about Davis & Sanford ATPG18 All Terrain Geared Pod with Fluid Head:
I purchased this as an economical solution to my video shooting hobby. I was expecting a cheap tripod with a not so great fluid head, that would be better than my still camera tripod. When I open the box, boy was I wrong. This is a straight up work horse tripod. The head pans and tilts as smooth as any I have used. I have only had it for a couple weeks, but I have used it enough to know I got a fantastic deal. My videos look much more professional and a lot less like they were shot on an iPhone.

The ATPG18 is a very nice tripod, and it came with some nice extras (a second handle, a carrying case and dolly). It seems solid and the action on the tripod is very smooth.
Having the second handle makes it easier to move your camera smoothly, so it really floats. It also comes with a 10 year warranty.
Only time will tell if it will last like a Bogen tripod, but I am very happy with it. The only minus is that it seems a little short and I have to use the elevator to get a little extra height.

The head is fluid and does nice pans and not jerky motion. it is solidly built and feels unbreakable. my only complaint is the head has a bit of really sticky gel that comes out of it sometimes and is next to impossible to clean off your hands.

I use this tripod for event, wedding and outdoor-wildlife and wilderness videography. It's heavy, but outdoors you need heavy to keep it steady in the wind. Very study and levels quickly on uneven ground.
Head pan and tilt is smooth and handles my XH A1 with ease.
To get the same height at other tripods, need to crank center post all the way up.
Some of the head knobs hit the camera and handles when you try to tighten things up. Took me a while to figure ways around this.

Comments about Davis & Sanford ATPG18 All Terrain Geared Pod with Fluid Head:
For the price, I was impressed by how smooth the fluid head moves. I've recently filmed a scene near a rocky stream, and it's definitely proven it's "all-terrain" name, having one leg perched on a tall rock, one leg under water, and one in mud, all at the same time. And, it still felt stable and had smooth panning.
One slight problem is that it takes a bit to get used to. All of the locking levers can ratchet to move them out of awkward places, but it can sometimes be a pain to do so.
Also, the case it comes with just barely fits it.

Comments about Davis & Sanford ATPG18 All Terrain Geared Pod with Fluid Head:
This is not a high-quality tripod.
But for the price, it can't be beat!
The bad:
Joints seem a little weak, there aren't any problems now... but durability will eventually be an issue. There is a lot of play in the pan of the head... switch directions of a pan and you get a solid tenth of an inch that has not an inkling of friction. The adjustment on the pan is not very precise either... once you loosen it all the way, it still has a pretty stiff panning motion.
Although I bet you could open the unit up and replace the 'gunk' in it... (which I plan to do) and you'd be golden. I've had to do this with other cheap heads...
The good:
Tilt function is a fine-performer, the legs are stable when spread and locked... the dual handles make me want dual handles on all of my other tripods... the release plate/mounting system are above average (and you get two plates...)
In summary, good quality at a great price.
(The dolly is free, the dolly is worthless. Yeah, and you know what else? It's free too.)

Really good fluid head for not a lot of money. Well put together. The legs may not be the best, but they work for DSLRs. Very much recommended for an entry level tripod.

Comments about Davis & Sanford ATPG18 All Terrain Geared Pod with Fluid Head:
At first this tripod's stage locks are hard to get a used to, but after using it a few times, it is amazing. The full metal body can withstand almost anything. It's fluidity knows no bounds, and the cranking extension of the centre column is so useful when wanting to do minor adjustments and not having to raise all three legs to get that extra inch.
This tripod states that it can support up to 20lbs and it comes with second plate.
At the price, this is a great buy.

I use the tripod for my jib and it is a good tripod the only thing is, the handle which tilts the jib up and down either needs to be longer or at a different angle because it bumps into the jib. But other then that so far so goo.

Comments about Davis & Sanford ATPG18 All Terrain Geared Pod with Fluid Head:
I needed a tripod for a small jib and this fit the bill. It easily supported 16lb with jib camera and 10lbs weights. The fluid is solid. I like having two handles and leave one at home if I'm on the run. Legs pull out easily with a solid lock.
Great price for this solid tripod.

Comments about Davis & Sanford ATPG18 All Terrain Geared Pod with Fluid Head:
Bought this setup due to the positive reviews and low cost. Main use will be with DLSR for photograpy and HDSLR videography. Setup is fairly straighforward, knobs are kind of clunky and not spaced effectively. Biggest complaint is that the 2 of the 3 Column support/spreader arms fell apart the first time I went to use them. The press fit of the spreader support tube to leg attachment joints seperated. Should be fairly easy to remedy with some epoxy, but demonstrates low build quality (china). Other than that, the head has nice motion and everything else is well worth the low cost. Tad bit on the heavy side.

Very sturdy and dependable tripod for the price. Gets rock solid when tightened up fully, and can easily handle a lot of weight. Very good buy.
Only con: lock for the sled can be difficult to use as turning it can hit whatever is mounted on the sled.

I would not call it "heavy duty" but it is a good medium duty tripod. Can be a little touchy setting it up and getting it level but for the price it is worth it.
