The Bushnell WeatherFXi 7-Day Weather Forecaster is a handy wall or table gadget to simplify your life, operating on either 4 "AA" batteries or AC power.  When used with the included AC adapter, the screen's backlit color changes as the forecasted outdoor temperature changes-making for an easy at-a-glance aid in what to wear during seasons of transient weather.  Unlike the more basic FX (no "i") models, this version's programmable list includes 20,000 cities worldwide instead of just cities in the USA-making it a good gift for an overseas friend or an international traveler's companion.

In addition to automatic clock, temperature, and forecasting capacity, the WeatherFXi uses constantly updated information from a signal it receives by plugging an included USB transmitter into any nearby PC with an internet connection.  Using this extensive data, the WeatherFXi gives current wind speed and direction, UV index ratings, sunrise/sunset and moon phases, relative humidity, extended forecasting for morning/afternoon/evening, and an AccuWeather-adjusted "real feel" temperature.

The Weather FX's internal clock with alarm function is directed by the US Atomic Clock, and any weather alerts issued in your area will be prominently displayed.

AccuWeather forecasts for 20,000 cities broadcast to unit via USB transmitter
Extensive forecasts for 7 days continuously updated
Wind speed and direction plus UV index rating are always displayed
Displays relative humidity, morning/afternoon/evening forecast, sunrise/sunset/moon phase, and 'real feel' temperature reading

This device is easy to use, easy to read and very accurate. The forcasting feature is great for planning your week. I particularly like the color coded light. You can tell at a glance basically what the temp outside is. I bought one of these and then bought another for my in-laws. I would recommend it to anyone.

Comments about Bushnell WeatherFXi 7-Day Weather Forecaster:

I had the 5 day Bushnell WeatherFX and loved it. I thought I would then get the 7 day since it had some additional features I thought would be cool. I sold my 5 day and bought this one. BAD IDEA! To start:

1 - This product requires software. I have had 2 different PCs and it will not work on either one. The software will install, and then once i reboot it says it is missing a .msi file and I then need to uninstall and reinstall. The DVD is literally always in my DVD player so I can reinstall.

2 - It requires software!! The 5 day did not. It was done wirelessly AND the weather forecast was MUCH more accurate than the city choices I have through the 7 day.

3 - If you have a laptop hooked up to a docking station it does not reconnect well after undocking and re-docking.

4 - Customer support is seriously lacking. It took me almost 30 minutes just to find a place to submit a question for support. Then they do not read your issue, come back with the canned reply and get upset with me when I reply.

No happy at all with this product.

Comments about Bushnell WeatherFXi 7-Day Weather Forecaster:

In order for this product to work, your internet must be open and on and the device can't be too far away from the computer. If that's the case, I can just look up the forecast on line! I should have realized that wireless is not wifi- it still requires something to be plugged into the computer, and even then, it doesn't always find the PC, and I cant get an update. Very disappointed in this forecaster

Comments about Bushnell WeatherFXi 7-Day Weather Forecaster:

Pro: many, many American locations and international cities, weather is frequently updated, very good-looking display, worked much better than other similar products Con: Installation Software didn't come up automatically (but very easily remedied; rest of installation was very easy, and the software worked great after that) ------------- The Weather Fxi comes in shrink wrap packaging. You cut it out of the box. There's a receiver with the screen that you see in [...]'s listing, a transmitter that plugs into a USB port on your computer, and a CD. There are instructions, but you barely need to read them. You put the CD in your computer's drive. This was the only weakness of the whole package -- my CD drive did not automatically load the program. I had to go to explorer and click on the startup program manually. It was very obvious, and it took me under 15 seconds, but some people might be a bit stalled by this. If you were expecting the program to just pop up on the screen (or if you didn't know how to start a program by using Window's explorer --that would be right click on the start button, and then scroll till you find your CD drive, and then double click on the startup program that you'll find on that drive), then I suppose you might not be able to get this to work. I do not consider this the least bit difficult; it takes 15 seconds, tops, and most everyone I know is familiar with finding programs on their disk drive, and double clicking on them. Anyway, you then plug in the transmitter to a USB port on the computer. Finally, you pick five locales to monitor. There are a LOT of cities -- my Boston suburb is on there, with a population of 30,000, as was my mother's suburb of NYC, also about the same size. My mother in law and daughter, who live in their respective cities were also there; there wasn't a way (that I saw, anyway) to further define their location, but I think that should be suficient anyway. Finally, for my son, I selected Munich, Germany. The selection process takes about 3 or 4 minutes. You have to wait for 30 seconds or so after each selection for the software to think before you can move on to the next city. That's it. We've had it for several days now, and it constantly updates, all by itself. The display screen is really good looking and detailed. There are at least 15 or 20 different symbols for the weather (clouds, rain, snow, sun, partial sun, etc.), a written statement (like "becoming cloudy and cold", the temperature, high and low, wind, precipitation, humidity, what temperature it "really" feels like, as well as the predictions or the next several days. You can press a button on one side and instead of three days forecasts, it will give you morning noon and night for today, or days four through six. You press a button on the other side, and it scrolls through complete data for the other 4 cities. If you plug it in, it stays back-lit (it runs on batteries, too, but we haven't tried that). It's extrememly easy to read. One last thing -- the screen changes colors depending on what band of 10 degrees the temperature is -- my wife loves that. So, the bottom line is that it took less than 10 minutes to set up, it takes no maintenance whatsoever, it displays international locations (very few do), and it is very sharp looking. VERY highly recommended.

Comments about Bushnell WeatherFXi 7-Day Weather Forecaster:

My wife really, really loves to know the forecast for today and the next few days. For the past several years, we had a weather device that gave our local temperature, and the predicted temperature, for the next several days. But it died, and I had to get a new one. Because our son lived in Germany, I wanted an international device that could do more than one city, and I got her the Oregon Scientific I600. The software was stunningly buggy. It never worked; if we were lucky, it might download the next week's temps, and then slowly, they would scroll off the screen, because it couldn't link the screen up to my computer a second time to download new data. Typically, I had to shut the whole thing down, restart it, re-pick the citiies, and then it MIGHT work for a couple of days. Not only was this a ridiculous obligation, but it was not something that a non-computer person would possibly consider doing. It was incredibly frustrating! Time passed, and with a new holiday season, I went looking again for a new gadget that could satisfy her. I found the Bushnell Fxi. Now, I must admit that I was a bit worried about this purchase, because I had already had the Oregon Scientific experience, and the two devices are reasonably similar -- both plug a transmitter into a USB port on your computer and broadcast the weather info to the gadget. So, I feared that if the other company's gadget was so awful, this one might be, too. (Indeed, the saving feature was that I was comfortable that I could return the Bushnell!) Here's my experience with the Bushnell Weather Fxi -- The Weather Fxi comes in shrink wrap packaging. You cut it out of the box.
