Comments about Tascam BB-1000CD Portable CD/SD Recorder:
This is a functional early start to portable recorders and cd burners. It's bigger than I thought (I carry it to conventions and fairs to record consultations). I also have a Marantz CDR420 which is better but much more expensive. It does the job adequately, but they don't have the speed and simplicity of a cassette player figured out yet.

Comments about Tascam BB-1000CD Portable CD/SD Recorder:
I use the 1000 to record new songs for the duo I perform in and copy them to cd so the other band member can learn the songs at his leisure and come prepared for the next practice. What I like about it the best is the simple, straight forward controls and interface. No complicated menus to dial through. Just wish playback was a little louder. Great tool

Comments about Tascam BB-1000CD Portable CD/SD Recorder:
This is my second BB-1000CD - I bought this one as a back-up to the one I've been using to record CDs for use by my guitar students. We record their lessons and I was worried this fine and easy to use unit would be discontinued! Excellent recording quality with either external mics (room for two) or the four internal mics. The process is quite easy but my only complaint is the "finalize/unfinalize" process takes a couple minutes (as compared to just the record and play function of old school cassette tape recorders) using CD-RWs. But overall I would definitely recommend this machine as there are very few small, portable all-in-one CD recorder and burners on the market. Sound quality through the speakers is quite good too!

Comments about Tascam BB-1000CD Portable CD/SD Recorder:
I just ordered a Tascam BB-1000CD from B&H Photo. It costs [$], but it is the best hardware based player and recorder for language learners. It is a professional boombox with very good recording quality, and can be used for Karaoke-like overdub A+B recording, slower speed replay etc. It works fine for the most part. The main problem is it supports MP3s only at 44khz. If I try to play some 22khz files, I got a Non-Supported file format error message. Another issue is the starting up time is slow - takes about 20-30 seconds. For file playing, it starts from the beginning of that folder, instead of at the exact file when it has been shutoff last time. Overall, it is a good unit for language learning.

Comments about Tascam BB-1000CD Portable CD/SD Recorder:
We use this product for a prison ministry. The men and women record storybooks for their children and then we send the book and CD to the child so they can hear their mother and father and know that they miss them and love them even though they are in prison. It's important that we can record directly to the CD and have it be a one step process because our volunteers don't have the time to do a digital recording and then use a computer to burn the recording to a CD. Therefore, this product is ideal for us.

Comments about Tascam BB-1000CD Portable CD/SD Recorder:
I would have given this 5+ stars, if it would burn and finalize CDs faster from the SD Card. Otherwise, this unit is great. I teach voice and do musical direction, so I was looking for a relatively inexpensive device that would allow me to hand my students a recording of their lesson on CD before they left. I record directly to CD, can create separate tracks for each part of the lesson by pushing one button, and with a couple minutes to finalize the CD at the end, it's good to go. The unit is light and about the size of a single slot bagel toaster. The menus are easy to read and pretty easy to navigate. The built in microphones and speakers work very well (having two microphones in the front and two in the back gives it a lot of versatility). I wish I had bought this a long time ago. I will probably bring it to music rehearsals to record them for people who miss or want to practice on their own.

Very portable and easy working tool. It is very simple to use. I use this recorder for long time. This is the second time I'm buying it because my old one was stolen. I use this tool to record all of the shows that I do. what i like about it is that I can record stuff on a card and also i can make master CD right in the Venue.
