The iWork '09 Software for Mac OS X from Apple is a suite of productivity applications for Apple computers. The suite includes a word processor (Pages), spreadsheet (Numbers), and a presentation application (Keynote).

I chose photography as a career because I prefer the instant gratification it affords. I chose iWork '09 for the same reason. I had been investing my limited free time in trying to unravel the complexities of the Microsoft Office suite with frustrating results. Since I switched to the no nonsense, easy to understand and navigate iWork '09 I spend more of my time behind my camera and less in front of my computer.
It might not have all the bells and whistles that Office has, but unless your job consists mainly of spreadsheets, charts, presentations, and reports, iWork '09 is probably all you'll ever need.

I use iWorks for my invoicing in my small business. Creating a template in Numbers was quick and easy and all I have to do to invoice somebody is fill in a couple fields and export as a PDF. I have not used Keynote or Pages extensively, but if they are as easy as Numbers I won't be disappointed.
Usable, cheap alternative to Microsoft Word and Excel.

I've used Pages for years and it has more than paid itself off in ease of use and quality of production. When I worked for a non-profit organization I used Pages to write my support letters and bi-monthly newsletters for my support team. The templates are simple and intuitive to use. With a little creativity you can produce newsletters that stand apart from the masses. As I've moved back into the private sector of video production I use the Invoice templates for billing my clients. Simple. Easy. Effective. And a real time-saver.
If you're a professional designer, then this is too basic a product to unleash your inner creativity. But for the rest of us it's a great tool that doesn't require a Master's degree to understand and use.

As a designer I've been on Apple for 20 years. Just purchased the Macbook pro, also from this vendor and needed iWork for the Keynote program. Keynote allows me to create a digital portfolio for viewing and now I can take the Macbook to clients and potential clients for a streamlined overview. The other programs are fine as well, however, I think Apple could have bundled the software supplied to include this without needing to buy separate.
