I am a college student who is constantly having to write essays and make presentations. Iworks is great for all uses!!! I use pages and Keynotes for personal, business, school and other presentations. The only fault I see is that it might take a while for you to get the hang of how it works for it is very different from Word, Exel, and Power Point

Being a Graphic Designer, I guess I like control over graphics and such. I feel that Pages gives me that, but still provides the ease of a word processing document for normal everyday things. (I am not saying that I would use this in place of professional software such as Illustrator, Indesign, etc...)
I like the fact that it doesn't try to second guess me with the whole automatic formating like Word does (I really do highly dislike Word).
I don't know too much about numbers as I haven't tried to use it yet. I do use Excel quite a bit when making calculations for pricing, so I hope that Numbers gives me the same sort of functions. I imagine it will, as the app that Apple had in the past (Appleworks) performed pretty similarly to Excel, (but a lot more limited).
One ting I do not like about Pages is that I cannot seam to drag and copy images... A question mark appears when I do and also that a shapes cannot crop an image, it just scales it to fit... Hey but I guess its not a layout program like Indesign or QuarkXpress.
