Samsung SL102 Digital Camera (Rose)
The Samsung SL102 Digital Camera is an ideal camera for the entry level shooter with its ease of use and compact size. It incorporates a quality Samsung lens with a 3x optical zoom, as well as Digital Image Stabilization to help reduce blurry images.
For simple shooting, the camera does most of the work for you thanks to a host of advanced automatic features, including Samsung's Face Detection and Beauty Shot modes. The camera can also record high-quality video clips at VGA resolution with a frame rate of 30fps, and allows users to pause and then resume recording video without having to save the clips as individual files. Photos and videos can then be viewed on the cameras 2.5 inch LCD screen.

- The Beauty Shot mode automatically retouches facial skin for brighter and smoother skin tones while in the Self Portrait mode, a beep sounds when faces are positioned centrally so you don't have to be behind the camera to take the perfect shot

- The Red-eye Fix feature automatically detects and remove red-eye so your pictures come out looking great - even when shooting with flash at close range

- The bright and clear LCD Display allows you to view images and video clips right on the and camera and also enables you to edit your images with the built-in image editing features

- The camera is equipped with 10 megabytes of internal memory so there is no need for a memory card to take pictures. The camera memory is also expandable to much higher capacities using Secure Digital (SD) flash memory cards (also compatible with MMC and SDHC cards)

We purchased this camera for our 6-year-old artistic daughter, and she loves it, and we are impressed too. We were a little worried about spending [$] on a camera for someone that age, but so far so good. Her photos are really quite good in both natural light and when some flash is needed. In dark situations the flash is a little harsh. It recognizes faces and adjusts the exposure well. It's intuitive and easy to use, and has lots of features she can grow into as she learns more. After one month, it seems fairly durable, though of course it's too early to tell.
