Purchased this to replace the costly Canned air. I also just purchased a new Gaming PC and want to keep the Dust filters clean in our Dust factory apartment. It is VERY powerful and LOUD. I also had to drill a hole in the other attachment nozzles to keep them from jettisoning off under the extreme pressure (as only the one attachment has a pre drilled hole for the locking mechanism.) Don't blow it directly on any computer components ie. CPU or RAM, as it may damage them. It does come with an air filter that can be cleaned out in the bottom of the duster unit. Also it does tend to get HOT rather quickly (1-2 mins is long enough to get the job done), but intermittent use is fine. I would recommend the DataVac Electric Duster to anyone wanting to replace those costly and condensation producing canned air products. Very useful product.

Bought this item for home use.... hobby, camera and to clean out the small fuel line on our home's propane heater. Thought it would be a better alternative to the "canned air" product. It is from the standpoint of not having to buy additional cans as well as minimizing impact/green concerns. However the bursts of air are extremely forceful and since there is no trigger adjustment to lessen that burst it is too powerful for certain uses. It's as loud as an old vacuum cleaner, ( the manufacturer is an old vacuum manufacturer!)
It would be nice if a thin tube was included to get into tighter spaces, as you would find on the canned air unit.
Overall it's okay; there are plenty of other uses I am sure.

Can use it without thinking "I'm going to be out of air!"
Excellent substitute for canned air. It has the same shortcomings with really stubborn dust.
The advantage is the different configurations it can be used and much more applications that canned air.
It's really powerful a convenient. It would take little more space than two cans of air (with all accessories).

This is a very powerful air blower with all the attachments you'll need to get into those tight places where dust accumulates in your computer. Works great. I'll be using this to remove dust from the TV and other electronics as well. Great product.

Have stayed away from canned air after reading about them spitting contamination onto cameras and lenses while trying to clean them.
The DataVac is a key item to have to keep your photography gear clean. I also use it on my computer, keyboards and printers. Cat hair can get into everything !
Make sure you select the 120V version...the 220v won't match to a standard wall plug.

Works like a charm! We use these in my IT department to clean out approximately 50 PC's twice a year. B&H price is about ten dollars cheaper than [@] at the moment. Buy this now and be done with buying canned air. You cannot go wrong.

I've used it to dust my computer and some other electronic equipment. Surprisingly it even blew off dust that likes to sort stick to the surface even when you try to blow it away with a normal spray can.

I have like 5 desktop computers and buying the can dusters to dust out my computers can get very costly. This was a great alternative.
BUT it does get very hot though, so be careful and don't leave it on for too long.

I use the Datavac Duster to clean out dust and debris from computers in my computer repair business. The best thing about it is not buying canned air anymore but it's cumbersome and gets hot quickly the attachments would be nice to use but it's easier just to go without them because they aren't the best quality or design. I'm not impressed. but like i said it beats buying canned air.

I sat on the fence for quite some time on this one. [$] for a can of air??? Well, this is FAR from a can of air replacement! The power this little puppy puts out is nothing short of amazing! It will blow your hair back from over 15 feet away. It actually twists a bit in your hand when you turn it on from the torque! I've been in tech support for over 20 years and this is simply the only way to go. When I think of all of the cans of air that I have used I am ashamed - and to think I consider myself a friend of the earth. If you use canned air, don't hesitate to get this.Made in NY by a quality vacuum company; all metal, solid construction with cleanable filter.

Comments about METRO DataVac DataVac Electric Duster Model ED500:
First off, the DataVac is a solid product. Metro builds quality vacuums, and this will soldier on for quite a while.
The DataVac does have some minor drawbacks. I didn't find the price to be unreasonable, especially seeing as a can of air can easily cost $5 per can. If you go through air cans quickly, this is a very cost effective alternative. However, the power of the DataVac cannot fully equal that of a new can of air. It does have a fair amount of kick, but if you're expecting a hurricane, you will be disappointed. The attachments do definitely help, but again, it's not the same. When you overcome that comparison, the only other drawbacks are the power cord (again, just something you have to get over), and the noise. This sucker isn't quiet by any means. I feel this is only a minor issue, but someone could feel differently.

I work in a professional computer repair shop, and up until now, we've had to make due with an air compressor that was too small for some of the truly dirty machines.
This wonderful device solves ALL of those problems. It runs instantly, barely heats up (unless you run it for 5 minutes straight, then it starts to get warm) and has more than enough power to blast dust, without harming the fans in the system.
My boss was so impressed, he picked up 2 of them - one for the official store use, and one for his home.
I'm thinking of buying another one to give to a friend who does computer repair on the side...
BUY ONE! You will NOT regret it!

I purchased this to use mainly on all my computers, but can be used on many other applications.
It does the job very well.
If I had to pick a con for this item, it would be for the noise it creates, but it is understandable that it is a result of the force of air it puts out.
Made in the USA quality product!!!

Comments about METRO DataVac DataVac Electric Duster Model ED500:
I bought this so that I would have a constant source of canned air. I bought it from B&H because they had by far the best price of anyone. Canned air is relatively expensive. If you use a lot, like I do, you'll go through quite a bit over the course of a year. I bought it in mid January, and it will have paid for itself by April, and that's it. No more buying air. I'm having too much fun with it. You have to treat canned air like a precious commodity, but this is an embarrassment of riches. I'm using it to blow dust off of everything.
