This camera is great because of it's numerous features. Loving the auto red eye correction, the coloring options, and the crop option. It's a little bulky but not bad. Best camera out there for the price!

This camera has a very wide view range. The battery life however is short, you can't charge the battery seperately, you must insert it in the camera to charge it. You cant charge the battery while using the camera, so buying a second battery is a waste of money

I got this as a general point-n-shoot, for recording musical events, and for some specific projects (e.g. stop-motion animation). It does very well in low light, with rich color and good image stabilization. It is also so nice to have the extended optical zoom after a number of 3x compact digitals.
My only complaint so far is that it turns off quickly, and then resets to autoflash when I had been shooting without flash... not good during events. There is probably a setting that can manage this, but I haven't found it. Also, the manufacturer's web site is appallingly difficult to use.

Picture quality is good - best in natural light. Love the manual settings options which are usually not available in a camera of this type. I like the function buttons. Menus are easy to navigate.
Disappointed that there is no Mac software for this camera.

I ordered this little guy because I wanted a powerful, yet portable camera. While I'm not a pro, I'm trying to learn some more advanced techniques. This camera allows me to set everything manually but I don't have to if I just want to take some quick shots. Been putting it through it's paces the last few weeks and got some really gorgeous pics. On top of that it takes HD video, and comes with an HDMI port right on the camera, so there's no need for a seperate camcorder! The 10x zoom comes in handy and even works while taking video. Also appreciate the self-shot mode that helps you guide yourself into frame. Very happy so far.

Took the Alaska cruise (Inside Passage). Snapped Humpback Whales, Orca, Otters, Bald Eagles and more. Got video while on excursions - helicopter to glaciers, seaplane landed in Misty Fjords and steam train up out of Skagway. All of it is gorgeous!
Would I have done better with a D-SLR and an HD camcorder? Of Course!
Could I have done this with any other "slips in the pocket" package? Not a chance!
The only thing to watch is the need to transcode the HD Video if you insist on editing with iMovie HD on a Macintosh. However, these HD videos play on any platform with QuickTime Player and are quite nice. Yes, there is focus noise if you zoom around. And there's no mic or flash jack/shoe. But we don't travel with an audio team, grips or focus pullers.
Just point, shoot and smile. Note that Manual Features work really well - ISO, Focus, F-stop, Exposure. We put this on a tripod and photographed the moon and you'd swear we used a D-SLR... We shot across a range of parameters and impressed ourselves (OK, audience was prejudiced).

Many promising features for point and shoot camera: manual focus, ability to set aperture priority or shutter priority. Wide angle is main "attraction" for inside/ in-house photos (family gatherings), but photos come out very grainy, appear out of focus. Compare to Canon Power Shot 1000 that I have for three years-Canon is much better.

This is a P&S camera, so do not look for even close to DSLR quality. That being said, the image quality is really impressive. Video quality is even more impressive. I would be nice to be able to connect an external microphone to it. The wide lens is ont thing that sold me on the camera. Really no complaints with it. I have read others with short battery Life but I have no problem with it.

Just starting to practice with our HZ15W - getting ready for Alaska Cruise next month.
I can set this on Auto and my wife takes pictures we both enjoy.
It doesn't have the dials and knobs I enjoyed on my earlier Nikon and Canon products. Do print the full PDF User Manual - I went 2 up, double sided and it fits on 60 sheets that way. Yes, everything you might like is down inside the menus waiting to be activated. And the all stuff I've tried actually works.
Even the HD video is the real deal.
Last night I placed a screen protector (Zagg) on the rear LCD so you know we're loving this little camera.
