Buy a lens, buy a filter. I used Skylight filters in the 35mm days so I figured I'd try one with the DSLR. Seems to have the same effect as a UV. The filter was a Tiffen and the price was low, but the filter glass is loose in the ring mount. Have the same issue with a Canon filter. So far no bad effects on either one. I got what I paid for.

I bought this as a protective filter for one of my Zeiss primes. The color shift is very transparent which is what I wanted. solid glass construction and the quality I expect from Tiffen, all around a good buy.

Tiffen filters are great. Probably the best filter value out there. I do wish they would use satin black paint instead of flat so it would look more like a match to the camera, but that is really a non-issue.
