The Internet has changed the retail environment forever. The world of online sales has exploded, eliminating tedious print ads and phone calls and offering the average person the opportunity to become a sell-it-yourself, start-up business. The MyStudio® line of Tabletop Photo Studios for Product Photography from Pro Cyc wants to help.
Until now the weak link has been the photography. It's been proven time and again that better photos equal more sales, and to complete the equation, higher selling prices. Quality images, especially those depicting open shadows and precise detail, add to the "perceived value" of your item, assuring the prospective buyer that he's choosing a well cared-for product.
Enter MyStudio® with a great line of mini-cycloramas that include lighting. Wrinkled seamless paper and time-intensive, post-production retouching are things of the past. Instead, your product seems to float in infinity on a clean, white background. The overhead light source is a color-balanced, digital-friendly 5000K fluorescent fixture on an adjustable stand, which wraps light around your objects and can be further directed with the supplied bounce cards.
Made in several sizes from 20 to 64 inches in width, MyStudio® solves the field-of-view problems evident in photo tents when the edges of the background appear in your image. Whether you're shooting coins, jewelry, cosmetics, objects d'art, electronics, car parts or handbags, there's a MyStudio® Tabletop Cyc Kit to fit your needs.
The MyStudio® 20 Tabletop Studio measures 20 x 20 x 12" (51 x 51 x 30.5 cm), and is ideally suited to small object photography, especially those which fall within the close-focus or macro range of most lenses.

I have been trying to take pictures of my products for 6 months with a cheap cloth light box. The results were awful and I could not get a picture without a reflection. I work at a wine company and we were going to use this backdrop for product shots. While the background was nice, even, and a consistent white, the lighting assembly that came with the product was one of the least intuitive things I have ever seen created on this planet.
The whole thing is held together by wingnuts. Further, not everything is secured! You adjust the height of the lights by unscrewing one (non-bolted) screw which is hung on another hook (if you're not careful to hit this point, the whole thing will collapse immediately.)
Lastly, the two light diffusers that are attached to the top are heavy and with even the slightest breeze in the room will cause the light stand to topple onto whatever product you are shooting. In our case, this can be cakes, cookies, and several edible items that can be destroyed.
I have been forced to take the existing light stands and build a new one out of wood to ensure that the products are safe.
P.S. The lights are also not even close to commercial grade. They burn at 5000K which means that you will absolutely have to do some white balancing at a later point.

If you do not want to invest a lot of money into taking professional product pictures, this is for you.
We run a webshop with around 500 products. By using this, we were able to reduce the amount of time editing pictures in PhotoShop.
Great inexpensive setup, would recommend.

Wow, this little studio did an amazing job for my last minute product shoot. I am so incredibly impressed with this setup that I had to leave a glowing review. The photos came out amazing and the lighting is perfect. Yes, it looks funny and a little awkward to set up, but it did the job for some really tricky product shoot I had. The instructions aren't the greatest to follow, but like other uses - just watch the fantastic DVD! I can't wait to expand my photography more by offering clients product sessions. Thank you again for MyStudio for offering such an affordable product [...] Thank you!

If you need an infinite white background to photograph small objects and are working on a budget, I would highly recommend the MS20. I have been able to turn out great fully lit photos with this lighting system. The only drawback came with the initial set-up, even thought the unit came with step by step instructions, it was a bit of a puzzle. After putting it together, I don't know why it seemed vague. Nevertheless, it was totally worth the effort. Minor note: when you attach the paper reflector stand to the paper reflector, place the bottom of the stand 1/16" ABOVE the base of the paper reflector. In this way, when using the reflectors near the cyclorama, they will be more stable. When flush mounted as instructed, tipping and flopping of the reflector is a minor challenge.

Pros:Works as advertised. Makes taking picture of products and small objects very easy, without having to worry about lighting, white balance and exposure.Cons:For a [$]price, the product is rather fragile and flimsy. All components other than the tub can break fairly easily. Poor design.[...]

I'm photographing small copper items (magnet, bookmark, etc.).
The whole setup is nice, but the quality of materials is sub par (flimsy, hodgepodge of pieces). Water damage was also visibly present on most of the items.
Disappointed.

Comments about MyStudio MS20 Tabletop Photo Studio Kit with 5000K Lighting:
I purchased this to take photographs of a child's toys. I achieved the results I wanted but it took some work. As mentioned in other reviews, the lamp seems underpowered. Even with small subjects placed far forward on the continuous background, it is hard achieve adequate exposure separation for the foreground element . This especially true with light objects. The lamp stand is a little flimsy. I'd purchase the background again, but would substitute my own lights.

My girlfriend is having a lot of success with the MS20...The pictures really come out excellent. I was surprised because it's such a simple setup..But with a Canon Rebel XT and a macro lens, we're able to take some amazing clear and sharp pictures. The results with the MS20 are so good that with jewelry that has some wear, we sometimes need to be careful because the pictures comes out too good. Or we've had the opposite result whether the even light and a slightly overexposed image hides all blemishes, which could be a problem because we want to accurately depict the product. The bottom line.... The MS20 is a valuable tool for anyone taking pictures for a website and was easily worth the cost.

Comments about MyStudio MS20 Tabletop Photo Studio Kit with 5000K Lighting:
I use the MS20 to sell items and it does a great job in casting the item with light surrounding it while giving distance between the item and the back ground. One does need to use a tripod as the lighting isn't strong enough to hold a camera still if you hope to get the best picture.

This kit way outshines the typical light cube and provides much better results and less editing post shooting to clean up background. Make sure to follow the instructions to sand the base/backdrop as this only enhances your photos.

Comments about MyStudio MS20 Tabletop Photo Studio Kit with 5000K Lighting:
This studio has already improved the shots I take of small items for online sales and for training materials. Constructing the light stand was a little awkward but not too difficult. I'd recommend having a friend help with the assembly. The studio is small enough to fit on my kitchen island and then goes right back into the box when I'm not using it. The light stand is a little wobbly so I'd recommend anchoring the feet to a board. If you are able to set up the studio in a permanent location then you could anchor the light stand feet to your surface.
